Well here we go with this again. Everyone is an expert on Texas Stadium crowds from the chair in their living room...Spare me.

Are you directing this towards me?

I am pretty sure I was at the loudest game at Texas Stadium.
It was the opener of the season on Monday Night and we were playing the defending Super Bowl champion Commanders with Mark Rypien.
It was Charles Haley's first game and Michael Irvin just got signed to a new contract in the middle of the week and did not start the game.
Isaac Holt blocked a punt out of the endzone and K-Mart returned a punt for a td.
We won 23-9 but Rypien had to beg the refs that he could not hear several times because the crowd was so loud.
Jim Lachey the left tackle was getting smoked off the snap by Haley and Haley had like 2 and a half sacks in that game.
The next day I picked up a newspaper and read several comments from the players and even Jimmy Johnson about the crowd noise being a huge factor.
Even though that stadium was like 96 degrees inside with stifling humidity it was an awesome experience.
That was the opener in that first Super Bowl season of the 90's.

I was at the Miami game. It did seem loud but I didn't notice noise being pumped into the PA.

The crowd at the Giants game seemed to be really loud, though, from what I could hear from the TV -- but then again, it was the biggest single game record at FedEx field for attendance at 90,803.

I was there, too... only game I've ever attended at Texas Stadium, a 40th birthday gift from my family... you're right, that was the loudest single football game I ever attended...you're right about the heat, too, I tell people I now have some appreciation for how a pizza feels when you put it in the oven...

First thing I saw when I walked in the stadium were two huge banners, one behind the Skins' bench reading "Last Year's Champs", the other behind the Boys' bench reading "This Year's Champs"... who knew they were being prescient, not just homers??

I also remember noticing the large crown on the field, and that it was laid directly over freakin' concrete... we sat a few rows below the Hogettes, who were quite well received, LOL...

The only bad part of the experience was the parking situation after the game... all those lot attendants were long gone, and it was chaos, we couldn't go by the "landmarks" we'd noted on the way in... we had rented a burgundy Ford Taurus, and there were only like 60 of them in the general section where we had parked... to make a long story short, it took us 25 minutes to find our freakin' car...
