First, I don't think firing MM and hiring a new head coach would have worked, not with the off-season the Cowboys had. A new coach would have stepped into this mess with an inferior roster and the Cowboys would still be 3-3 and looking at 6-11.

Jerry kept MM because he knew this season would be like this. This was all planned for some reason.

Look at all the players Jerry let leave Dallas. He could have signed several of them. He could have extended CeeDee back in March. He could have extended Dak back in March. He chose to wait until the very last minute before the season. Why? So he could use the CAP as an excuse for sitting on his hands all summer.

Skip is right. Giving Dak $60 million was about as dumb as it gets. I support Dak, but only at a reasonable price. I support CeeDee but not at $34 million. Neither of these players will ever earn the money Jerry paid them. They can't. The rest of the roster will hold them both back, not that Dak would ever be worth $60 million.

What we do not know is why Jerry made no moves in the offseason to improve his team. He has a plan I am sure. But I have no idea what that plan is or was. We are going to finish the season out of the running but it is not the games we lose, it is all the result of the off-season Jerry planned.

I hate Skip Bayless and would never listen to a word he says.

Shannon Sharp should have whopped his arse.

Hate him all you want, but he goes FIVE FOR FIVE in this short clip....especially about being stuck with Duk. The only thing he didn't mention was the obvious, which is trade Duk, Lamb, and Micah and kill it in the draft. We are SCREWED for AT LEAST 6 or 7 years....minimum!!!

Why would you trade Micah and Lamb?

Or are you purposely trying to be the worst team in the league for a at least 4-5 years?

Yup! This team should have been blown up after last years Packer playoff loss but not only did Jerry bring everyone back, he doubled down by extending both Dak and CeeDee!

You're leaving out 1 important fact in regards to the bold - Philly corrected both of those mistakes fairly quickly. Jerry rarely ever corrects his errors in judgement, he instead makes them far worse by doing things like giving a mediocre to average QB the highest contract in NFL history. Philly would have cut Dak after year 2 or 3, but not Jerry.
If Wentz and Kelly were a mistake, Hurts and Sirianni are a bigger one. Similar to Prescott, Hurts is paid a lot and has a no trade clause. Neither one of them is doing particularly well. Jalen Hurts has no excuse. His GM has provided him sufficient talent.

To get the best QB available via draft or trade....you do realize that re-signing Dak just set this team back 6-7 years minimum don't you???

The Cowboys have 99 problems, Dak is about 60 on that list.

Jerry is the problem, in case you haven't figured it out. He has never built a complete team, and never will. There is always a weakness on his good teams. In the past he refused to pay safeties and always played crap players there. He decided that we could play with crap WRs another year. The past 10 years he's decided DL is not a priority. This year he went all in and didn't bother to get DL, RB or competent WR2/3. We have 2 rookies on the OL, and Martin has taken a big decline, but Jerry will play Martin and Steele no matter what, because he is paying them bid money.

Remember when Jerry gave Romo that big contract and refused to get him OL help? He said that with that big money Romo wouldn't need an all pro OL. He literally said the same thing about Dak this year. He s getting paid big money and must play to that level, yet he decided not to get him a competent help.

Let's not forget Stephen A appears enamored with Dak's contract (unlike any other QB) as this board when dissecting our Cowboy issues. Now First Take has Cam Newton joining in the circus discussions. Cam.....see fumble recovery at Pitt and know we didn't forget your very same moment in the SB that displayed no effort. And Dak speaks after every game......win or lose, instead of retreating like a sore loser. And now Stephen A continues the character assassination motive and whining about Dak's pay at every turn. We're on a bye and the 'Boys are the topic on First Take on a Friday. Too funny.
