Maybe the reason the staff don't see Pollard as an every down type of back.

"[Pollard] played a total of 30 plays, and I think that's his max - as far as total play count - because then the juice doesn't become the same and he's not as quick, not as fast," running backs coach Skip Peete said after the Chicago game. "When he got that long run on third-and-1, soon as he got to the sideline he said, 'Coach, I'm done. Done for the game. I've got no more.'"

Just saw that someone already posted this. Feel free to delete. My bad.

Did Pollard say something to this? I caught the back end of The Fan yesterday and it almost sounded like Pollard said something about him not being able to handle more. I don't know if this was The Fan speculating or Pollard actually saying it.

Clarification is required here. Is it 30 touches or 30 plays? I would argue most backs are whipped after 20 touches and 30 total plays.

What happened to the days of running backs carrying 25-30 times a game and catching a few passes as well while still being effective?

Honestly this maybe a good thing for us. He may not want to be a lead 20+ carry a game RB. Would Elliot or any other lead back come to the sideline after 14 touches and say he is done for the game. I like his honesty but not a team comment. Elliot takes either a pay cut or restructure and we pay Pollard ok money. I would pay Pollard 7 million and if Elliot takes a pay cut that would be nice. He may like his role here.

Yeah....that's not gonna help him get paid in FA.

and ladies and gentleman, that's why Pollard is not a lead back, but just a complementary back. if he is gassed at 30 plays. what can I say.

Well again, fans see his burst and quickness because he works so well with Zeke. But throw Zeke away and see how he does with Full duty and a Full slate of games

Mam get real of Zeke said this yall would be killing him right now lol. The coaches know more than we do!

Some of us were telling Pollard fans this, but they wouldn't listen.
I think Pollard is a great back, but he's not capable of toting the rock like Zeke in his youth was.
Not that I think Zeke is great now, but he has a more girth than Pollard.
Pollard is McCaffrey-lite.
And McCaffrey was breaking down, which is why the Panthers shipped him off.

According to this it's plays, not touches. Box score shows 14 carries and 1 reception.

Unless Peete was making it up sounds like it came from Pollard. Maybe Peete was exaggerating the conversation but who knows.

I'm pretty certain he had a tight groin or quad on his last TD run as well. He wasn't as fast as usual at the end and was slightly favoring a leg, which he had done earlier in the game.

I'm very happy with the mix in the running game this year. Pollard is electric and brings juice and big plays. Zeke grinds out some dirty yards. It's a good thing.
