Her take is a bit different from a few posters
Said in another thread, Jerry is questioning his leader's work ethic. Its no coincidence he specially singled out Parsons, Dak, Diggs and Steele. Also, I get the feeling he is sending a message to team leaders to offer more support to the new coaching staff. Remember, a lot of new faces on the coaching staff........they may be a little reluctant to deal with the money players.

I argued against giving Diggs a contract extension. despite the interceptions, he was an average CB. made big plays, but also gave up big plays and he hated to tackle. this is NFL and he didn't like tackling. that alone did it for me. we should have let him walk and take the 3rd round pick that would have been the comp for him.

but he was selling too many jersey's at the time for jerry to let him walk.

Steele a leader ? ..when did he become a pro bowl stud ?
I guess Jerry and Stephen are basing that on the fact that Steele is the longest tenured OL among the starters.

Age doesn't make a player a leader Jones boys. Now that Martin is gone, Tyler Smith and Tyler Booker (yes, a rookie) are the leaders on the OL.

I think it's more about pay creating responsibility. Steele is easily the highest-paid among the OL. So it's kind of like with any workplace, usually the highest paid are in leadership roles.
I truly believe that he thinks that the more he pays players the better they will perform.

That isn’t at all the case, but now he is demanding to get what he thinks he is paying for.

He could make Steele an equal partner and he is still going to be what he is.

Meanwhile HE is the guy making these decisions but someone else has to be to blame.

Stephen Jones has always prioritized leadership as a prerequisite of his 2nd contract players. He has mentioned it many times......they are expected to be leaders and/or the face of the team. My guess is Steele hasn't reached out to help the younger O-line players like they expect or Tyron Smith and Martin did for him.

you think Jersey sells drive decisions? bahahaha, most people buy those jerseys for 30 bucks from China, not Jerry's pro shop..

Every organization is populated with leaders. Leadership takes different forms as well. NFL owners are leaders as well.

Practicing good leadership is knowing when to say something and when not to say anything. Jerry Jones believes his pep talks are motivationally inspiring. He has made them via the public forum for decades. How exactly has his words, directed toward his players and coaches through the media, paid off?

The answer is obvious.

What Jones wants from anyone should be discussed privately between himself, the player/coach and possibly include his first born. Speaking his mind into a microphone is the wrong approach. Those are simply easy opportunities for his narcissism to express itself to the world.

True motivational leadership over the team should be solely employed by their head coach. It should only be Brian Schottenheimer communicating his performance expectations of the players. One-to-many or one-to-one. Doing so neither stops Jones from publicly cheerleading for his players and team or privately conveying HIS return on investment expectations to his player or coach.

Right but at the same time it’s a league wide thing. In think the real issue is Diggs and he’s actually the most favorable contract Jerry has signed.
favorable in the fact they can walk.... but since Diggs got the money, he has not done jack squat for the team..... fi Diggs was a good soldier for the team, Jerry probably views it differently. But for the money he has gotten, is Jerry wrong to be upset that the player isnt around the team?........ I went back to a little Parcells there, if anyone of you caught that.

There could be some truth to this, but why doesn’t Jerry just say it….the way he chooses to deliver messages just feels dirty. Him stating he wants to push top guys to be proven leaders before paying them would be much better accepted by the fans.

I agree with this somewhat but 2nd contract players are core players. These players are expected to show strong leadership and work ethic. Some get leadership confused with being a rah rah type, and that's misleading. Not all players have that type of personality but that doesn't mean he can't be a leader.....sharing his experience and knowledge that earned him his 2nd contract with younger players. THIS is what I think their beef is with Steele........

Diggs is a different situation from Parsons right now.

The Jones have botched Parsons until someone can show me it's the agent. In a follow up question after presser Jerry admitted he and Parsons had an agreement. Yet no call made to the Agent.

This is disgusting to me. Jerry and son are punishing players for getting injured in a physical game.

Again Diggs went against his contract and rehabbed away from team. He deserves what is happening.

I agree......although his tone was a bit strong IMO, especially in public. He obviously has a beef with several of his so-called leaders and didn't hesitate to call them out. I can't remember seeing Jerry start a training camp with such a negative tone or behavior. Maybe he was speaking for the coaching staff, not reaching certain players. Either way, I agree, if I'm paying you millions of dollars, you are going to do certain things my way.

+1....you killed two birds with one shot (lol)

I think Diggs is just a pain to deal with it seems.

His brother is the same way.

Maybe it’s just how they are.

Oh well. He got his money. He doesn’t have to care anymore.
