I’ve looked and listened to this news all day, (just as most of you). I’ve noticed one overwhelming topic the media isn’t talking about. Most non casual Cowboy fans who understand football, and the NFL, are good with the trade.

Sure most everyone would’ve liked to get more in return. But being realistic, smart people know there aren’t a lot of teams that wanted to give up a couple first rounders, and pay a guy who has one talent 47 million per year. Especially when you have guys like Smith, Pickens, Bland, and Aubrey all coming up.Throw in a DT who’s under contract for 3 years, and it’s the smart move.

The other thing I want to say is this. It’s the NFL, when all the “talking heads” are saying one thing is going to happen, bank on it being the opposite. The way everyone is writing The Boyz off before the season starts is going to put a chip on the shoulder of all the players on this years roster. This team is about to shock everyone.

Who knows where it will end up, but I know where it’s going to start. Get ready for this team to start 6-2 or 7-1. The narrative is going to change, and a lot of these media types are going to be dumbfounded!!!! I believe this whole thing. Is going to light a fire under the 2025 Dallas Cowboys. Smart people will understand this.

Once again It’s the beginning of the season, and I have more hope and love for the Dallas Cowboys than when I did when the season ended. Jerry is genius!!!

The defense is probably going to struggle this year, but the offense has the chance to be good enough for us to be a wild card team. But really that’s not what this is about. It’s about Dallas having the most combined first and second round picks in the league over the next two years and, if they want it, they now have the ability to have the second most cap space in the NFL next offseason. This move gives you a two year window in 2026-2027 with Dak and the offense being what it could be to get the defense right, or to get things in place to have a loaded team when the next QB steps in. That’s really what this is about.

The 2025 Cowboys were never going to have a contending defense with or without Parsons. But now we might next year.

I will say probably the worst thing in football for a team to do is trading multiple 1st and giving the player a huge record setting deal. That's a tough path to go down, especially if it doesn't end in a championship

they need to win early, as it gets harder later on.
I think the off can be best it has been in a long time, but not sure about defense.
10-7 is my prediction.

I feel for you brother. I know you wanted him to stay. You have been a consistent supporter of Micah. I can appreciate how crappy you must feel right now.

I don’t know if this is copium on my part but go back and watch the playoffs. Micah didn’t do much, especially in the Green Bay loss. I remember after that game I was talking to my nephew and I told him I never wanted to see Dak or Micah in a Cowboys uniform again and I wanted McCarthy gone. Well I guess I got 2 of the 3. As much crap as I have given Dak for his playoff performances, Micah hasn’t been that much better. The one thing that always stuck with me in the Green Bay loss was Dak just plain sucked but Micah just plain gave up. He wanted no part of Aaron Jones that game. He avoided playing the run. After that game I really wanted to trade Micah.

Well, that’s true in some ways and not so much in others

I am a fan of Micah’s play. I think he’s a fantastic football player and was the best on our team. I think he’s headed for the Hall of Fame.

But, I actually have been advocating for a trade because I didn’t see any way he and Jerry would make peace and I felt that the only other outcome was going to be Jerry “owning” him for the next seasons years, draining what will likely be three of his best prime years. All the while, Jerry the soul sucking vampire would be callously using him up.

No other owner or team in the league would treat their best player in such an awful way and i just didn’t want to see it.

Also, him staying meant that both the Jerry worshippers and the Cowboy haters would team up to just destroy Micah every chance they got.

So, as a Cowboy fan, I’m glad we got something from the deal but I’m also happy Micah was able to escape. I’m disappointed with the return, but Jerry has never been good at trades so this is about as good as could be expected.

I won’t like Micah as much in the future now that he’s not a Cowboy, of course, but I’m glad to see he’s not going to end up chewed up by Jerry and the fandom.

Agreed. Jerry is a curse to this franchise. Jerry was wrong with how he handled it from the jump. Me personally I’m mad at Jerry and disappointed it didn’t work out. I don’t know, I got a lot of conflicting emotions about it. I haven’t fully processed it yet. I still go back to the best thing for this franchise would be to lose a lot of games and money so Jerry is embarrassed.

Rough day today as a Cowboys fan, again, a lot of conflicting emotions.

7-1?

Just looked at Vegas to see if anything had changed since the Micah trade.. of course it has with GB T5th.. Dallas 19th.

1-7 they have us starting.. so we shall see.

I hope to hell they are wrong.. but they seem to understand football as well ;)

EDIT: only game they have us winning is Giants.

We'll know who is smart and who was wrong in a couple of years. I have mixed feelings about the trade. But one thing I am not conflicted about. It did not have to come to this. Jerry could have and should have signed Micah a long time ago. Had he been pro-active with this generational talent, he could have gotten Micah for a lot less money. So, in my opinion, this trade was a mistake that was set in motion in 2024 when Micah first asked for an extension and Jerry said no.

You could see this train was headed for the cliff for a while now. I suppose at this point Jerry had no choice. He boxed himself into a corner and he was not going to let Micah beat him in a game of chicken so he forced the trade - and got back less compensation than he should have. Make no mistake 2 1s and Kenny Clark is not going to net out to being better than Micah Parsons. This is the Cowboys drafting probably somewhere between 25 and 30. We have to wait and see but that is when we know if the Cowboys were stupid or not. And btw, Jerry has already insinuated he may trade those picks for other players, or for more draft picks. Jerry trading should send shivers down our spines. It also mean Jerry is not thinking of loading up to trade up for a QB.

I would not have paid Micah $47 million. That is way over the Market considering what Garrett and TJ Watt got. Micah is good, but not that good. I would have to see the contract to see how it is structured before forming an opinion, but I read one ex-GB official thought the contract would look more than a 3 year $120 million deal. That would be much more reasonable, but if true would mean Micah could be looking for a new team in 3 years again. If Micah demanded $47 million then trading him was the only option but it would have been good to know what Micah wanted back in April.

Kenny Clark is a good player. He is, or was, the kind of DT the Cowboys have needed. But I think he will only be in Dallas for 2 years at most. He will turn 30 in a month and some say he is already on the down side of his career. Again, we'll see soon. Will he help stop the run as Jerry claimed? I think he might help but the Cowboys problem stopping the run is more than just a DT.

This is not the Herschel Walker trade for Dallas. First, Walker was never as good as Micah Parsons. Walker only ran for 1000 yards 2 times in his career. Once for Dallas. He was a great athlete for sure, but when we talk about the best RBs in Cowboys history, no one mention Herschel Walker.

Jerry is still gaslighting us. His claim this is about stopping the run is about as dumb as it gets. A week before the season he suddenly decides stopping the run is important? It was so important back in April he used 2 7th round picks on DTs, one of whom was already cut from the team. And his commentary that when the Cowboys get behind he doesn't want teams running on us is just idiotic. How about when the Cowboys have the lead and teams are passing on us? Does that matter too?

Jerry talked about Micah and the playoffs. He must be reading this board, in which case he is a bigger idiot than I thought. This is the same guy who paid Dak $60 million per year and what has Dak done in the playoffs? Nothing but fall on his face. And again, go back and watch the Green Bay playoff disaster and watch GB put 3 guys on Micah on passing downs.

People are saying this trade marks the beginning of a rebuild. I don't think so. Jerry does not think that far ahead. If he did he would have done something with Micah long before the week before the season begins. This was clearly an ego driven impulsive move on Jerry's part and I don't believe for a minute everyone agreed unless Jerry made them agree. Plus he has a $60 million per year QB who is 32 and possibly injury prone. You don't rebuild around that.

And for those already putting Arch Manning in a helmet with a star on it, let me introduce you to reality. If Arch Manning is that good, and we have no real reason to believe he is at this point, what team drafting 1 or 2 would trade their pick away. And let's say the Cowboys win 7 dames this year. The Packers make the playoffs. The Cowboys will be drafting around 12 and the Packers in the 20s. No one sitting at 1 is going to take those two picks to move down to 12 and 25 or so, not if they need a QB.

As I said, if Micah really wanted $47 million, then trading him was the only thing Jerry could do. But I believe and will always believe this was not about money. It was about Jerry's ego.

How do you know it will be bad we added a lot of solid players in the offseason to it

Yes and if he signed him to a 47 million contract talk shows would be saying cowboys overpaid killing future paying all their cap for 3 players guaranteed every one on this site who are complaining now would be complaining about that !

It’s a lot of money and capital for an incomplete player at Defensive End, even acknowledging his generational ability as a pass rusher.
