Smart fans know better

I will say probably the worst thing in football for a team to do is trading multiple 1st and giving the player a huge record setting deal. That's a tough path to go down, especially if it doesn't end in a championship
It just depends on where the team is today.

The Packers could very well be a Micah Parsons away from a real shot at a Super Bowl.

I think it’s worth the risk for them, but it’s not the slam dunk the media and fans want it to be

I’ve looked and listened to this news all day, (just as most of you). I’ve noticed one overwhelming topic the media isn’t talking about. Most non casual Cowboy fans who understand football, and the NFL, are good with the trade.

Sure most everyone would’ve liked to get more in return. But being realistic, smart people know there aren’t a lot of teams that wanted to give up a couple first rounders, and pay a guy who has one talent 47 million per year. Especially when you have guys like Smith, Pickens, Bland, and Aubrey all coming up.Throw in a DT who’s under contract for 3 years, and it’s the smart move.

The other thing I want to say is this. It’s the NFL, when all the “talking heads” are saying one thing is going to happen, bank on it being the opposite. The way everyone is writing The Boyz off before the season starts is going to put a chip on the shoulder of all the players on this years roster. This team is about to shock everyone.

Who knows where it will end up, but I know where it’s going to start. Get ready for this team to start 6-2 or 7-1. The narrative is going to change, and a lot of these media types are going to be dumbfounded!!!! I believe this whole thing. Is going to light a fire under the 2025 Dallas Cowboys. Smart people will understand this.

Once again It’s the beginning of the season, and I have more hope and love for the Dallas Cowboys than when I did when the season ended. Jerry is genius!!!
excellent post

Hurt as in the defense probably went from average to pretty bad. I know that they weren’t making the playoffs with or without Micah this season. It does need to bottom out to get some higher picks and trading Parsons expedites that.
if you think the goal is to be a contender, you ve missed the last 30 years. players in, players out, regardless of talent.

Fans: we doing a SB this year Jerry?

Jerry: We dont do that hear moron, 30 years, how many more do you need?

Understand football? Sweet Jeebus.

"Parsons was incredible on the field. He was unstoppable. His EPA per play put the Dallas defense No. 1 when he was on the field and No. 31 when he was off of it. Think about how insane that is."

It's time to face the fact you don't understand the modern game.

We didn’t get a “run stuffing DT”. PFF grades for the last couple seasons aren’t that great. That’s like calling Dak an “elite QB”. This guy isn’t elite. He’s a good player.

And he’s 30…

And he’s coming to a train wreck environment that doesn’t prioritize winning over and above the show.
You can't have an ELITE player at every position...lol. What does Dak has to do with this? Dak is a very good QB. Sooner or later some of you gotta stop letting Dak live rent free in your head. When you're talking about ELITE, there aren't many in the NFL...period. You don't need superstars at every position. You need good talent with COHESIVENESS and good COACHING.

Funny thing is most not all but most opposing fans I've seen have been calling micah overrated but now all of a sudden were crazy for trading him.

I don’t know why you are singling me out and call me a moron? I never said Jerry was interested in a SB, he is all about the $$$ and notoriety. He will never build a team to get that far.

Best post I've read all month.

Very much agree with you.

7-1?

Just looked at Vegas to see if anything had changed since the Micah trade.. of course it has with GB T5th.. Dallas 19th.

1-7 they have us starting.. so we shall see.

I hope to hell they are wrong.. but they seem to understand football as well ;)

EDIT: only game they have us winning is Giants.
That's not gonna happen.

Wrong. Micah isn't a complete player. He's good at 1 thing. Limited.
That's part of the problem here. One of the best pass rushers, yet Little Michael was one of the worst run defending DEs in the league.

And it cost us. I think Eberflus had something to do with him being traded, personally.

I wish he was never moved DE and had remained an LB.

Spot on! This season will also be a time when these young players will learn to lean on each other and understand what it means to be a team and start to believe in themselves. Sure, we are a few pieces away...need a QB for the future and a RB to lead the show, but the foundation is being laid with a promising core.

Until the last sentence you had my attention , dam you had to spoil that , LOL!

The defense is probably going to struggle this year, but the offense has the chance to be good enough for us to be a wild card team. But really that’s not what this is about. It’s about Dallas having the most combined first and second round picks in the league over the next two years and, if they want it, they now have the ability to have the second most cap space in the NFL next offseason. This move gives you a two year window in 2026-2027 with Dak and the offense being what it could be to get the defense right, or to get things in place to have a loaded team when the next QB steps in. That’s really what this is about.

The 2025 Cowboys were never going to have a contending defense with or without Parsons. But now we might next year.
This is the silver lining. But it all hinges on the FO cashing in on the draft picks and cap savings— and IMO— being willing to move on from Dak.

He gets this year to show he can play and produce and lead the offense.

If he struggles like he did when healthy last year— then I think we HAVE to use most of that draft capital to get a franchise QB for the future and purge the cap of Dak’s contract.

If we end up trading Micah for the franchise QB of the future— then it would be worth it.

Or if Dak balls out and the draft capital and extra money is used to fill out and stuff the roster with talent— then it will be worth it.

But if Dak struggles, and this FO still blindly tries to surround him with talent— this will be the worst trade in our history.

no, sorry did NOT mean to iunsult you, was that directed but i do apologize if it came across that way

This trade ranks up there with the Hershel Walker deal. Jerry got rid of a lousy DE, pick up two 1st round picks AND an All-Pro DT in Clark who is just starting to peak. Jerry took the Packers to the cleaners. Just when I was losing faith in Jerry, he instantly redeems himself. The BOYS are back in town..!!
Lousy DE huh? That might be the worst take I have ever need here
