Impressive win against a very tough team.
Here are the snap counts from game 1 and what stood out:
  • Tyler Guyton and Terance Steele the only players who played every snap on offense or defense.
  • Zeke Elliott had 32 snaps and had 10 carries for 40 yards.
  • Rico Dowdle had 28 snaps; 8 carries for 28 yards.
  • DeMarvion Overshown had 11 tackles on 44 snaps!
  • Marshawn Kneeland had 44 snaps.
  • MaziSmith only had 23 snaps.
What jumps out to you?

Zeke looked good I’ll give him credit, he’s not 2016 Zeke but he’s also not 2022 zeke
UMM 2021/22 Zeke we're very good, you forget the 1st halves before injuries he was rolling and better then yesterday, odd how memories are flawed but he had close to 5YPC those years until the knee injuries he tried to pay through and hurt his stats.

so Liufau only played 9 snaps.he is the starter in name only.If we are not going to play Deuce then its better we give Ryan Flournoy a chance .

my only concern was watching Overshown coming off an injury , not only the acl but the little hip thing in camp,

play STS!! YO coach NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please don't use him there. not worth the fatigue and injury risk..

right WHY, BECAUSE mike Zimmer likes to use three linebackers But he wont use a 3 LB set a lot.. so it will change game to game but Kendricks is the only true starter followed by Overshown so Liafu will be worked in when needed. No need yesterday to show everything..

The youngsters on the offensive line played well for their first game but certainly had some growing pains in both pass protection and run blocking. They’ll get better as the season progresses. The fact they did as well as they did against that defense, which is dominant, is a great sign going forward. What jumped out at you Bob?

Mazi comes out when the Cowboys are expecting a pass. He is replaced by Golston. Mazi was the only NT that played in the first half. Joseph and Phillips did not come in until the 3rd quarter.

Even though he only had 23 snaps, he had the most of any 1 tech at 30%, with Philips at 205 and Joseph at 17%. I think this rotation is a great thing and hopefully he can keep it up.and show some promise.

I don’t recall the details of the season just the end…refresh me on when he got injured and when the bottom dropped out?

Get Parsons off the field in the 4th when you have a big lead. An extra 10-15 snaps at the end of the game really adds up over the course of the season!

I think it just wasnt the type of game for those guys to get snaps. Cleveland had to throw the football most of the game so the Cowboys are playing with extra DBs on the field and getting the strong side backer to the sidelines. Deuce isnt the hard runner who keeps the chains moving. Hes going to run some routes and be part of a lot of misdirection plays. Once the Cowboys got a mutli possession lead it really became a straight power run attack with occasional jet motion to keep the defense honest.

the first six or seven games he was absolutely great both those years. Got knee hit both years right around 6-8th game in and dropped off playing hurt.,,. was close to 5YPC had some nice speed and movement up to that point.

The RB splits look pretty good, would like to see Dlaw and Parsons get a few more plays off in games this lopsided. Keeping those two guys fresh for the back end of the year is crucial.
I would take a little bit of Dalvin versus Dowdle. Even Duece should get more carries . Maybe he will when Pass protection is not as crucial!

yeah, but that's game one against one of the better defensive lines in football...so a good showing and can only get better.
