Snapping the ball to late

Peyton and Tom snap the ball late all the time and I don't see anyone complaining?

The good QBs do. It gives you a chance to change plays at the LOS and get into better ones after the defense shows itself. If you pay attention, you'll notice that most of the time Romo raises his knee while in the shotgun, the defense reveals itself. He's then able to point out blitzers after the declaration.

The main problem, like someone already said, is the communication with Gurode in times when Romo wants the ball and he's not ready to give it to him. Or when he snaps the ball too early.

they also have quick, smaller players on the line

with the exception of Leonard Davis, and Kosier (who we missed most of last year) we have sort of a lumbering group that is slow to get going out of their stances

Defenses will show more often than not the longer they hold the ball. It also allows Romo and the OL to get their calls in. The D goes on the ball not on the clock. It's still about execution and play calling. 1-2-3-4 throw the damn ball somewhere the defense isn't and preferably to your guy.

Well, when Garrett came over here he talked about how they were going to speed up the pace of the plays so they didn't do that. And as we've seen, that's a lie. I guess it's Owens' fault.

I'd rather see them get the snap off earlier because it makes the count a little less predictable.

As we've seen, snapping the ball too early is a much bigger problem. Romo's not ready for it, and the defense gets to come across the line before our linemen can react.
This is because the offense in general is unorganized and sloppy from A through Z.

Maybe, But I think my plan will work we could never snap the ball and basicaly keep there offense of the field and our defense off the field and totaly confuse the defense, Hey rememeber I am a pro bowler

Dallas often looked disorganized coming out of the huddle. That led to the ball being snapped with 1 or 2 seconds left on the play clock.

I don't think milking the play clock is a bad thing. If the offense is ready and just wants to burn off a second or two more then that is okay. Romo and Dallas often times semed to be in a rush to get the ball snapped before the play clock expired. That is different and goes back to being disorganized.

The play call would come in late, they took too much time in the huddle, they took too much time getting lined up, they took too much time calling out coverages or whatever the reason. It just seemed as if the process was not smooth prior to snapping the ball.

I think this happened repeatedly because the wr could not get lined up properly nearly every play. Which is odd since all the offensive coordinators on this board say we run the same play over and over and the defense knew the plays.

Howcome the wr didnt?

and this started from the first game against the giants in 07 on opening night. IN the first quarter buffalo bill got an illegal procedure penalty for not lining up right.

It is always prevalent, sometimes we overcame it this year and sometimes we didnt.

The center snap in the shotgun needs to be faster and straight.

Agree 100%. It was very frustrating to see them consistently get out of the huddle and to the line very slowly. Either the plays need to come in faster or Romo needs to pick up the pace.

I noticed watching some of the games last year we are always snapping the ball with one ot two seconds left or at zero, to me it makes it easier on the defense, because they know when the ball is going to be snapped, What do yall think

Yes, it was a HUGE problem last year. We just simply are not getting the plays in to the huddle, and snapped in a timely manner (which is usually a problem with how you practice). If we can see this you can bet opposing coaching staffs have seen it and are gameplanning around it.

While it is a problem...it's not like Eli isn't notorious for doing the same thing. Half the time I thinks it's a delay of game with him...but they do alright. I like up-tempo myself....get the defense not prepared, or less time to figure out what your doing.
