So did we hire Capers?

Nothing official, however all signs seem to suggest he will coach the Cowboys Linebackers.

Not yet - but my sources tell me we are going to shortly. . . . . :)

Why don't they just make him the defensive coordinator....I think our current one is over his head. The defense wasn't horrible, but it was conservative especially during crucial situations and I think a team with this much talent needs to do better.

He probably should be the DC, but I just don't see Wade demoting Stewart.

Maybe just give him a title of Asst HC/Defense and the LB coach?

I bet that's exactly what they will do. Capers has way too many skins on the wall just to be an LB coach. And I don't think Stewart will balk about Capers having a lot of input since he has so much NFL experience and such a big reputation with defense.

In a lot of ways he will be a D-Coordinator without the title.

The fact that Stew has worked under Dom probably helps. It's not like Capers wouldn't have a voice or anything, no matter what his official title is.

Asst HC/Defense and the LB coach?? That's a new one.:lmao2:

How bout just paying him what he's worth? That might work, cuz the title won't get you a cup of coffee.

This hire would make me giddy inside.

If that's the case, we are putting together quite the group of coaches here... I guess there will be absolutely no excuses next year then, as far as coaching is concerned anyway. Now we've got like 4 head coaches or potential head coaches on the staff. ;)

Does anyone know what happens to the deal Capers signed with Miami?
He signed a 3 year deal for about 2.5 mill a year -- is it like a HC deal where he gets that money minus whatever he earns at his next stop?

If they do owe him money, this could have interesting implications for Dallas-Miami relationships -- and possibly suggests implications for some special considerations to be thrown our way. The more we pay him, the less Miami has to.... and the more they might throw our way (I'm not talking high picks here but maybe a little extra draft value in a trade or two)

Again...ugh...as I pointed out in another thread that brought this up...Jason is already the Assist. HC. Capers will NOT be getting that title.

...And 13 Pro Bowl players. Sure sounds good on paper, doesn't it?

This team will be primed for a Super Bowl run next year. I think once we get over that hump of finally winning a playoff game, this team's confidence will skyrocket.

The first win is going to be the hardest,as I'm sure we're all well aware.

There is a such a thing as Offense and Defense and teams do give that title on both sides of the ball. Not saying we would, but it's hardly impossible.
