imagine this. you're a photographer with a ton tied up in expenses for your camera equipment. you travel to a place where cute monkies play and you take a lot of pics. suddenly, nature calls.

as it will do out in the wild.

so you take a break for a bit, leave the camera behind on a tripod and go take care of whatever it is that took you away from the camera. when you get back you come to find a curious george found your camera and took what amounts to one HELL of a selfie. i mean, an image that is certainly cute and clever and just *looks* like an intentional selfie.

so the man shows it off and what happens?

PETA sues to make sure the monkey has the copyright to the picture.

Well, apparently I can't watch the video with the protective gear on my computer, lol, although the selfie of the Celebes crested macaque in Indonesia is very cute.:)

PETA is a joke. They are the equivalent of a couple of other joke/scary/freaked out groups I can't mention for fear of being "politically banned". lol. But this actually reminds me of another primate video that I love tremendously, it is so cute, very funny, and would love to share it with yall.

I love this video! Awesome. Would not want to tangle with this bad boy. He does NOT like that gorilla he keeps seeing in his territory, especially since he can't figure him out! HE is the baddest dude in the land, not this other guy, and he is ready to kick some major ay--arse. Wish we could suit him up. lol

He's gotta be freaked out because he goes around the mirror looking for him and he disappears...

Then when he hits the mirror, it's like a brick wall... lol

Yeah, it's crazy. lol. I feel bad for him, because he's a little confused as to where the guy is going. But it is just so awesome to see how he turns his head to the side before he confronts the "other", it shows how they go into combat, much like cats do, trying to throw the interloper or prey off, by looking disinterested. And it is funny, because gorillas are mischievous and curious by nature, and really very cool and laid back most of the time, so I can enjoy the video. He is really very funny in his approach, lol, albeit very deadly most likely. I would not want to be behind that mirror.;)

Have you seen which living entities are self aware in the mirror experiment? There are 8 of them and they used a mark on their head or face and saw if they would attack or posture to the "other" one in the mirror(non-aware), or try to get the mark off their faces. Some of these actually surprised me, they are:

1. a Bonobo, the smartest primate there is, even more in social behavior above chimpanzees. Bonobos look a lot like Chimps, but they are peaceful and never ever get violent with each other unlike Chimps.

2. A Dolphin, no surprise there as to how crazy smart they are.

3. An Elephant, this one didn't surprise

4. A human being

5. A MAGPIE!! wut and wow.

6. A Pigeon, see above

7.An Orangutan , yup

I have seen many of the mirror experiment videos, but I don't think I've seen these, except the elephant one. I've seen it. Or I've seen A mirror experiment video, not sure if it is the one you mention. They all had marks? Well it is probably a different one. I don't remember a mark.

But, alas, youtube is wonderful. Here is the elephant video that contains some of the mark test. There are probably more with the elephant, but I really like this one. It is really interesting. Thanks for the info, MonsterD. I see lots of new and amazing homework in my future.:)
