Agreed.

With this defense last year bringing back Wilson and LVE and adding Gilmore is great. The only 3 starters we lost / haven’t brought back were Brown, Barr and Hankins. Two of those we have no interest and bringing back.
Hankins.
Brown has been replaced by Gilmore. Barr offers nothing at this point.

I liked Brown, but with his injury, time to move on. I can see him as a depth signing in TC or after the 1st game if any injuries. Or if they move on from Joesph and / or Wright.

Foreman would be my choice. Big bruiser type, had a great year last season.
McKinnon probably comes closest to giving you what Pollard does, but the guy is hurt a lot.

Wait. Wut? You were hoping that Zeke could stay? Really?!?!?

Many of us were "hoping" that he wouldn't have been extended several years ago.

And now, he was an absolutely detriment to any potential success to our team.

Always "hope" for what is best for the Cowboys. Not for any individual player....
Zeke can still play. Moore sucked and ruined him with his stupid play calls for him. Plus the injuries.

The only mistake so far is tagging Pollard.
I disagree. It is a 1 year stop gap. If Pollard had 35% of Zekes touches last year he would have been a 1400 yard back.1 year tagging pollard gives us time to see if we can draft his eventual replacement.... or Pollard really takes off being THE guy in which case we keep him. I like the Pollard tag.

Much better than I expected.

While I’m on record disagreeing with tagging Pollard, I think most everything else they’ve done has met or exceeded my expectations. The deals to keep Wilson, Vander Esch, and Tyron Smith have all been better than I thought they’d be.
Didnt we all sit around and complain last year in those 1st few days also??? Then like they always seem to do, they filled spots with fairly decent deals and by the end, we were pretty happy.

IN the end, as it will every year, it will come down to Dak... and that never has me excited at this point.

Team is doing well. The biggest hole was ILB and CB2. Both are taken care of.

I still, would like a few more additions before the draft

[DT - Sign A’shawn Robinson or re-sign Jonathan Hankins]
[WR - Sign one of DJ Chark, Marvin Jones Jr., Parris Campbell.

Draft
(1) Dalton Kindcaid, TE, Utah
(2) Steve Avila, LG, TCU
(3) Henson Hooker, QB, Tennessee.

This should cover all of the spots needed to be filled
I would be all over Paris for a cheap deal. That guy has played with crap at the qb position since he arrived. BUT, Ive seen him ball out also .... put him on this team with our players and he could possibly be the free agent signing of the off season. Jones??? not for me at this point. I like YOUNG. DJ Chark fits that mold also... big, fast and YOUNG. Jones is 33

I was for getting OBJ LAST year because we were in the running and needed immediate help righ tthen... but no way in hell am I for signing him to any 3 year deal even for 35 million.

Id rather take Chark or Campbell on a 3 year 20 million deal...... but honestly, im not sure what kind of money those guys will command. IM not for drafting a WR.....we need immediate help, and we saw what happened last year with a drafted WR. I will not even speak his name... until he actually plays.

Not on board with tagging Pollard. If he heals properly which he should, I am fine with him on the team. Maybe they can work out a contract before the deadline, July 15th?

As much as I was hoping Zeke could stay, it was the right move to get out of that contract when they could. Dak may be next if he doesn't do well this season, like getting to the NFCCG, if he loses another game, especially to SF.

Gilmore trade was great, and restructures of the other contracts were very good, and keeping Wilson and LVE is very good also.
I say an A so far.
How are you going to get out of any Dak deal? Do you not listen to Jerry when he speaks? He actually tells you what hes thinking and hes told us he will be keeping Dak around for years to come.

Good so far. The Gilmore trade is a big plus because now the Corner position doesn’t have to be an early draft priority. The release of Zeke widens the opportunity to upgrade the offense in a year when the draft is loaded with good RBs and some of them will be available on Day 2.

Lots of upgrading still needed. We haven’t yet improved our ability to stop the run which is the D’s #1 weakness for years. We still need major help with interior DL and probably another LB.

Good start to the off-season. But we have been so used to seeing our FO do very little, we may be a little early with the praise. I like what they’ve done. But a lot more needs to happen.

He also said they want to keep Zeke.
It is a year to year thing. They restructured his contract for this season, they did not extend him.
Though that still could happen. I hope not. Now get to the NFCCG and play well, then we may see it in 2024.

huh??? Did you watch the games? So Pollard gets the ball and seems to be a threat to take it to the house whenever he touched the ball. Zeke comes in and gets 2 yards, 2 yards, 2 yards and never, ever looked like he could get 100 yards.

I loved the guy, but he was done.

2 yards as Moore ran him into stacked lines 95% of the time.
How did you like those 1 and 2 yard TD's as he had 12 rushing TD's.

NFLN said yesterday they asked a team source, how do you replace that in the run game. A team source said you don't. As they also said Pollard is not the RB to do that.

Hes already said they will extend him......... Dak is going nowhere.
They wanted to keep Zeke on the cheap. Zeke , may still return. Whn he sees he has no market, I actually think he will be back..... and I do not like that thought at all. Time to let him walk away and move on. DRaft a kid in the 3rd or 4th rd.

No doubt he was good in short yardage, but you cant play a guy 8 million plus to be a short yardage back.

IMO they did well in the draft with Tyler Smith, Sam Williams, Jake Ferguson, and DeRon Bland. That was a very good draft. But we did not upgrade our run defense for the umpteenth year and the dumping of Amari Cooper without any kind of upgrade was by their own admission a bad move.

Last year’s draft was an A-. Last year’s FA moves and roster cuts were a D.

No you can't. But I do feel with better play calling and this 30% change in the offense, he can still be productive, with an improved OL. Which benefits Pollard even more.
So yeah, not at his price. It was the right thing to do.

Yes he could be back, but I think that may be a while before it would happen. Let him see what the market is, and what they may want to do in the draft.
In the mean time, he can run 40 yard sprints in Dak's back yard.
