Never sign RBs to long-term second contracts. Period. Yes, it's possible you'll miss out on the one guy in a hundred who doesn't decline steeply in his late 20s, but I'd rather do that than repeat the utterly predictable Zeke situation.

The franchise tag is fine. Even if it doesn't work out, it comes with no out-year obligations, which is really all that matters.
That's what I'm saying. I completely agree w/ tagging him. Great move. I'm trying to understand why people are against it. Doesn't make sense to me.

This is how you use the tag, get a year out of a guy while you decide what to do. After that, you can release him at no cost, or you can sign him to a longer term contract if you so desire. The tag is an excellent tool for both. They player gets paid very well for a year, and the team gets the needed time to evaluate.

What's wrong w/ Singletary?

Foreman is an injury waiting to happen. That's why he was available in the first place. Everyone knows he can play, but everyone also knows he'll most likely get hurt.

I would hate to be the team dumb enough to pay him after he finally had a year where he didn't get hurt. Before his 914 yds last season, his high in the 4 previous years was 566 yds.

Team is doing well. The biggest hole was ILB and CB2. Both are taken care of.

I still, would like a few more additions before the draft

[DT - Sign A’shawn Robinson or re-sign Jonathan Hankins]
[WR - Sign one of DJ Chark, Marvin Jones Jr., Parris Campbell.

Draft
(1) Dalton Kindcaid, TE, Utah
(2) Steve Avila, LG, TCU
(3) Henson Hooker, QB, Tennessee.

This should cover all of the spots needed to be filled
Absolutely 100% draft Hooker! I love the kid.

Then next year draft another QB...and the next...and the next...Just like the Patriots did with Brady. Next thing you know you find yourself a Jimmy G and now you trade options with Dak.

Hed be another Zeke... 2 yards and a cloud of smoke. No explosiveness IMO. IM happy with Pollard, draft a kid, and Malik Davis, who I thought looked pretty good in his limited opportunities.

OK. But Run D and WR have not been addressed and you can't fill all problems in the draft.

hmmm.... so how did that drafting a qb approach work out for the pats? They had Jimmy G... ok, they got some draft capital, but Brady left and they are in qb hell like 50% or more of the teams in the league.

arent there a decent amount of good WRs still sitting there? We all know D Hopkins is being dangled, OBJ, Cooks, Chark.... when the FA signing period basically ends and we have done noting, then Ill complain we didnt address WR.

You need to get this done early, or you are left with James Washington.

I think what they have do so far is great. VanDerEsch on a decent deal, wilson deal good, letting Zeke go, keeping pollard, restructure Tyron with an incentive deal based upon his availability, likey saying goodbye to schultz(Even though he is very underrated as far as his contributions) But you drafted those TEs last year knowing Schutlz was gone and the young guys need to step up. Stephon Gilmore for one of those 5th round picks they just got....

Now need a lineman in draft, RB, and lets see if we sign a DT here soon. If not, need to draft another.

The big one for me is getting Hopkins... thats who I want. The guy still balled out last year the second he returned from that suspension even playing with a hodge podge of QBs. We clearly need a WR.. so lets get going on that FO... isnt will McClay the man?? So Im gonna blame him if he doesnt get it done. He gets all the credit for anything that goes well.

So how would you rate them so far
So far , so good, but we still have unfinished business.
I am withholding final judgement until all is said and done.

We should recind the tag and sign a couple of backs.....Pollard is not a bell cow. We may even be able to sign him for a better deal.
I don’t think a “bell cow” is needed. We need playmakers and he’s a playmaker. Use him like CMC and he will win some games for us

Better than Foreman, 2 yards and on to the IR.

They added one guy and the rest is all "let's run it back again." Not impressed.

Ehhhh

They keep talking about fixing the run D and yet all they have done is resign a decent, not great LVE and apparently are going to just keep to the plan at DT - see what cheap guys they can get later in FA.

B- and that's only because I like the Gilmore move. The rest is just blah.
