Watching the Seahawks and Rams while my 2 favorite prospects from last years draft start on both sides of the ball.

**please note, I'm very happy with Dez**

Earl Thomas on the Seahawks side of the ball on defense and possibly my 2nd most favorite prospect who anyone who was here last year would remember me having a man crush on, Rodger Saffold at LT for St. Louis.

Got me to thinking. Hot damn, still two of our biggest needs! Not so much LT as OT in general but you get the point.

Outside of Patrick Peterson there is no Earl Thomas in Round 1 of this draft and if you listen to Jerry they seem to be happy with their young Safeties.

Now we need fixing at Safety (unless you take Jerry at face value), CB, DE, OG, OT, NT(depending on who you ask) and Kicker.

Well we can throw kicker out the window. Unless Al Davis takes over our draft we are not likely selecting a kicker in round 1 let alone at all.

I HIGHLY doubt your going to see a NT drafted in the 1st 4 rounds. The Cowboys are pleased with Ratliff and they have a host of young players they like and I must say I was rather pleased with as well when they got a chance to play.

No one selects a OG in the 1st 10 picks, throw that out the window as well.

We are now left with CB, DE and OT

In the grand scheme of things put yourself in Jerry's shoes for a minute. Your paying a 1st round veteran price for Newman(sorry folks he's not going anywhere), a first round price tag for Jenkins(also sorry, he's not going anywhere although unless Dallas changes defense schemes he might as well) and you have Orlando Scandrick who seems to be the Corey Proctor of the defensive backs. The staff loves him but it's hard as a fan to see why. Bottom line, Unless Price or Peterson fall the odds of taking a CB are not strong.

That leaves 2, OT and DE.

Ironically enough, where we are picking it's also where the value in the draft lies.

JJ Watt
Robert Quinn
Da'Quan Bowers
Adrian Clayborn
Cameron Jordan
Ryan Kerrigan

and now that I wasted your time with names, Jerry controls his own fate at DE. Spears can be resigned and probably at a friendly number considering he did not have the most productive contract year. Bowen has been a pleasant surprise and can be brought back at a friendly number. Hatcher can be back. Igor is under contract. Yes, we all have issues with each one of them but you cant have a steak on every plate and to be honest. If Spears is brought back and we bring in a young DE to push the Vets in a later round. I would be fine with that.

Now we are back at OT. In my world (as explained above) it appears I need to find my next Rodger Saffold.

His name is Gabe Carimi and how happy will he be when he is reunited with Paul Chryst.;)

**Check back next week, this will probably all change**

Gabe Carimi Woot Woot.

Yeah Earl Thomas was my guy last year.

Carimi is just awesome.

People knock his pass protection but I just don't see it. He is underrated as an athlete too.

I think once the NFL teams look at him they will see this and he'll rise quick.

I'd bet a lot of teams will think he can be a franchise LT.

He's a guy that could possibly be out of our range by the time the draft gets here.

Carimi is one that I really like too.

Moffitt is probably my pet cat right now. Later in the draft, anyway. He can play either guard spot, and reportedly can even play center.

Would make me a happy camper if we got them both somehow. Im watchin the Rose Bowl right now, and as i said in another thread, im always impressed with every Wisconsin game i watch, by these two guys. They absolutely destroy people.

Lol.

Carimi-Konz-Moffit. And I forgot the other 2.

They arguably have a better line then some NFL teams. (Particularly ours)

They were a true pleasure to watch this year. I love watching great Oline play and I've had Carimi and Moffitt in my crosshairs for a while.

I think Derek Sherrod will be a pretty good player at the next level.

Austin Pettis in the 4th to be the #3 behind Austin and Dez.

He's our Crayton replacement. And he's better than RW.

Meh.. I don't think he'll be a good pro.

I'd like his teammate Doug Martin though.

Titus Young for the 3rd WR spot!! Next Desean.

1 Derek Sherrod, OT Mississippi State 6-6 #305 - Doug Free played well at ROT last year in Columbo's absence and with the top LOT still on the board, why not have the flexibility of 2 athletic young bookends that are interchangeable? Sure makes game-day decisions of whittling down 53 to 45 easier, in the case of deciding on back-up OL in the case of injuries. This is a case where value equals need and is a fine pick by Dallas

3 Danny Watkins OG, Baylor 6-4 #310 - Another plug-and-play o-lineman. He's 26, but has been a top college OT the last two years. His shorter arms push him inside, but the Cowboys won't mind too much

5 Matt Szczur, WR/KR/PR, Villanova – prefect slot guy - On the season, the versatile wide receiver has 47 receptions for 542 yards and four touchdowns. To go alongside that, he's run with the ball 94 times for 654 yards and eight touchdowns. Throughout his three-year college career he's amassed 94 receptions for 1,177 yards and eight touchdowns

but I am liking this kid at after watching him play the other day

WR - Dwayne Harris, WR/KR, East Carolina 6-0 #205

I'm on board with Carimi. As it stands on most mocks we could trade down and still get him later in the first. And I love the idea of getting Moffitt in the third.

I hope whoever we bring in as DC gets Jerry to watch the film on Ball. No way should he be our starting FS next year.

So that leads me to my next question. Who can be a pet FS to draft in the second round?

My vote:

Ahmad Black - Florida

OT stock rises as draft nears. They are at premium. Always drafted a little higher than rated.

If he is rated high on our board, I would not get cute and trade down. Take the man and fill your hole.

Reportedly 5'9". People used to tell me the same thing about Desean Jackson when I campaigned for him....

Yeah, schools always boost height and weights. Wait till the combine.

And how are you going to compare a WR to a FS? Desean Jackson is 5'10'-5'11 first of all. Its easy to have success as a small WR. You can't do that as a FS.

Go find me a FS whos shorter then 5'8.

Jackson IS NOT 5'10.

Jim Lenord and Bob Sanders.

Yep. Jerry better listen... He's not used to picking linemen in the 1st.
