Newman and different players confessed they did not have any emotion in the Lions' game? This is mind boggling. I remember Bob Lilly's statement after the 1971 SB win over the Dolphins when the Boys held them out of the end zone and to only one FG"

"We felt like the only way they could score was over our DEAD BODIES." Talking about emotion, intensity, focus? Where is some tiny spark from the D that they will leave it all on the field and win or be carried off?

They have been accused/confessed to having no heart. The whole load of coaches and players need to be dumped on a boat heading for ?????
I know we have talented players, real good players that good coaching would make a difference. But no emotion on the brink of the playoffs when you are still in the mix to win the division? No emotion when you havn't won a playoff game in 10 years? No emotion when you have an opportunity to reward the faithful fans who have suffered for ten years yet they have supported the Boys all this time? No emotion and no answers when you are about to play the last game of the season if you lose and have to live with that bitter taste for six months?

You have got to be kidding me.

It's hard to play emotionally when you're scared....or when you're exhausted and being ground into fine powder over 4 quarters. We've got to try a different scheme in the secondary.

Some folks here like to talk about "emotion" and a head coach that can motivate players. I disagree with that. It is about x's and o's mostly and about talent the rest of the time for the head coach. We had a certain head coach named Landry that won a lot of games. He never got "buddy buddy" with the players and never tried to motivate them. He also never needled players to make them better. The players have to find the motivation in themselves. A good scheme that the players believe in does make them better. I don't think we have that.

Just shows this team has no pride and has quit. After the way they have been humilated defensively you would think they would want to make a statement headed into the playoffs. Instead they skated and got beat by a crap team. To me that is more frustrating then when they just plain sucked. Hell they never quit like this under Campo.

I started a thread yesterday about motivation.
I noticed you had no ideas. I guess you might have missed it. How would you motivate these guys?

I am gonna disagree.... I dont think he is just flat out exhausted and tired... I think he is tired of the team not playing to the capabilities... there is a difference.... we saw how he was a few times this year when things went well

You can only bang your head against a wall so many times. After all this time and he still sees the same mistakes........

Or you can nut up and stop it. The players are taking them selves out of the games.

I thought the D looked like it had emotion against the Lions.
As Baldinger said, Emotion quickly goes away when you can't get off the field on 3rd downs.

Emotion is no good unless you can back it up. The cheerleaders are rah-rahing all day long but do you think they could make a tackle?

You are right. I don't believe the cheerleaders could do any better tackling. Maybe as good but not any better.

Tom Landry was a master at getting his teams to "peak" at the right time. And he specifically used the word peak towards the end of the regular season. My memory is not what it used to be but I feel quite sure Tom Landry said himself (paraphrazed) that if you can't get your team to peak at the end of the season, you wont get far in the playoffs.
