...Jason Campbell announces to the media that he is ready to play. What do the Skins do?

Start Collins or start Campbell?

If they start Collins, what does it say about their QB of the future, and the guy they gave the reins to for the majority of the season?

If they stat Campbell, and miss the playoffs, how bad would Commanders nation come down on them?

Up to me I would start Collins and if Dallas does pull their 1st stringers I've put Campbell in. Let him knock the rust off against the 2nd or 3rd stringers and have him ready for the Seahawks.

Glad it isn't us.

Start Collins no if, ands, or buts. But, lol we are talkin about the skins.....

Collins is playing decent and has Wash one game from making the PLayoffs, JC will be OK by next season hofefully he's learning something for the Skins sake...

They should go with the hot hand and start Collins.

I don't think it says anything about Jason Campbell. He is still a young Quaterback learning the game.

Troy Aikman was on the Norm-athon and talked about how he got hurt in 91, Steve Beuerlein played well in his sted and he wasn't given his job back right away when he was healthy.

There is a huge debate over this possible situation on ES.

IMO, you ride the hot horse and right now, Collins is getting the job done and if they make it to the playoffs (which Cowboys may derail it for them), then they should continue to start Collins.

For next year, let the QBs battle it out during the TC and pick the best QB for the season. If it's Collins, then it would give more learning time to Campbell and would benefit him since he really hasn't done much this season.

I agree with the "go with the hot hand" sentiment. But if Collins falters, then I would put Campbell in just for the experience. He is our QB of the future, and the more he plays the better.

I think either way, there will be dissent. Maybe even within the team.

I only see there being dissent if Collins continues to play well, but Campbell is reinstated. Then, some of the veterans might resent the team's focus on the future. But the Skins have a pretty tight-knit locker room, so I wouldn't expect anything too bad to happen.

I dont know what I'd do.

Campbell showed to have success against us, however Collins has alot better understanding of the offense, and has shown that he can be fairly accurate, more so than Campbell. Collins is hot right now, and has more experience. So in that sense, Collins should play.

However, we will feast over stationary quarterbacks when we gameplan against them. Collins is just that, so all we have to do is say to our pass rushers, "Get to point A" and send the blitz at him. Campbell is much quicker and can avoid the rush, so in that sense, Campbell should play.

Overall, I think your idea is a good one for the Skins. Let Collins start off and do his thing, then work Campbell in the 2nd half. I hope they start Collins though and use him throughout the playoffs. If they see us in the postseason, we will tee off on Collins like people have done to us with Drew Bledsoe in 05 and part of 06. Whatever they do, I dont see the Skins beating us in a meaningful game. But it is the Skins though, so you never know. But I'd rather take my chances with Collins and an aggressive gameplan.

True, but is Jason Campbell really an athletic/scrambling QB?

He's not a scrambling QB, but he moves well in the pocket and can run when he has to. Collins is definitely more stationary, but he makes decisions quicker, so it's a tradeoff.

:laugh1:

What a problem for the Commanders!

You know, they could sign Crankcase tomorrow and start him on Sunday against out scrubs, and if he wins the game...HE IS DA BESTEST QB EVER!

What a disfunctional team...

I wonder what Gibbs has to say about Campbell starting? Or does he EVEN know?

So how do you explain his perpencity for fumbling and getting sacked 21 time in 12.5 games?

Why pose this hypothetical? I thought Campbell was finished. Is there some new development?

When he was first injured they said he could possibly return for week 17.

There is a chance he may be cleared to play during the playoffs.

John Clayton reported last night that Bubba Tyer, our trainer, said Campbell was 50/50 for "being available" this week.

What QB do you feel gives you guys the best chance to win?

A more accurate, quicker thinking, yet stationary Collins?

Or a more moible, stronger arm, yet less aware Campbell?

The fumbling is because he often keeps the ball too far from his body (and really has nothing to do with moving well in the pocket). The sacks are because our line has really struggled at times this year. We've been missing our RT and RG, although I think Jansen is just about done, and I've been impressed with the way our rookie Heyer has stepped in for him at RT. Our second string RT Wade played most of the year, and I was disappointed at the results. Also, as I mentioned, Campbell takes longer to make decisions.

Right now I would say Collins because he hasn't turned the ball over. Another offseason studying the offense will hopefully help things come easier for Campbell.
