Dez is certainly a legit number 1 receiver.

He creates opportunities for others and he can do things that a lot of WR's only dream of.

Why can't people be comfortable with acknowledging that Dez is a great WR but also not the gold standard?

He's more than fine for this team.

The one route which I have no idea why Dallas doesn't let Dez run is the (5) comeback? Irvin made a living on it and I'm sure Dez could too.

Mike could run any route on the tree and was a threat to take it to the house every time, Dez isn't even close to that.

I for one can watch the games still see the same Dez we've always had.....not sure why some are trying to take shots. The dude was open all night when he wasn't being pass interfered with.

That's ok though, I'm sure he's just being motivated by all that bs on MSESPN.

Bottom line is that dez didn't do much in

this game.
He was pitiful actually.
But it's just 1 game.

Mike wasn't much threat to take it to the house. In fact, his TD numbers were rather pedestrian. I'd be surprised if they aren't among the lowest of the WRs in the Hall of Fame. An argument can be made that Irvin was the greatest possession receiver of all time.

Irvin's TD numbers were very much affected by the fact that the 90's were very likely he best red-zone rushing team in NFL history led by the Great Wall and Emmitt Smith.

You guys on here are nothing but snakes. It's the first game of the season. Dez AND Dak could have played better. Let's enjoy the W and see how stuff go later in the season.

I like Dez and think he can be a very good #1 WR but for that to happen, he needs to be used properly. He needs to be moved around to create mismatches and he needs to be running double and triple move routes. If you just line him up on the outside against even an average CB and have him run straight routs or one cut routes, he will get shut down because he doesn't run great routes and cannot separate from anyone on a regular basis. He needs his coaches to be creative with him to create that separation.

Well one thing is true, the refs are really letting CBs be physical with Dez.....they seem to just be blind to it. So cause the guy turns his head for the ball, his hands are still all over Dez.

I wish they would stop trying to run so many long sideline routes with him though. Thats a route that is setup by other routes and its just not his thing. Let him complete a few digs, slants, and post routes before even thinking of that route. Heck we don't even have a WR that can run it efficiently (unless on playaction), do something else. Be nice if we had someone with that kinda blazing speed but we don't, stop running it so much.
