So what is our draft position?

18th in first round. Tied with Steelers, and will alternate in subsequent rounds

........just low enough to not get a difference maker: AGAIN. WHen you win 6-9 games every year you stayed mired in football purgatory:mad:

We'll see. You can usually get a quality interior offensive lineman around the 18 range, especially C or G. A good DL may be available. We got Dez Bryant at #24 and Bruce Carter and Sean Lee in the second round. Talent will be available.

We do need to build quality depth in the latter rounds. This is as thin of a Cowboys team that I have seen in years.

Depends on how deep the draft is. And don't rule out another trade up.

See what the FA signings may be. And where we will need help from there. We know even if any OL are signed as FA's, we still need to draft a few young OL. And DL and S.

I think we can use another WR as well. LB looks like we have some players, but I would not doubt they won't draft another in round 3 to 5 if BPA.

IMO 8-8 is the absolute worst thing you can do every year. You don't make the playoffs and you pick 16-19. I could see a 4 win team wanting to trade up from the 2nd rd. to take Smith or Barkley at QB but I am not interested in acquiring 2nd rd draft picks at this point with our track record.

I agree , I would rather be 4-12 or 12-4
Being struck in the middle you cant get an impact player and you are not in the playoffs !

Perfect spot for a top OG though.

Or a RT.

Or a good FS that can start from day one.

Where we pick is perfect for what we need.

Doesn't matter where we pick. With the right football minds, you can find quality starters and solid backups in EVERY round. Why do we need a top 10 pick to find a stud?

I want to look forward to the draft but the last time we picked 18th the great Bobby Carpenter was chosen. Thanks JJ...please
let's not have a repeat...

Good answer.

There will be impact UDFAs in this draft class. Your draft position has never prevented you from drafting well.

But this is doom and gloom Monday. We're picking 18th. So this is a 17 player deep draft class.

That's a cop out. The Patriots draft much lower almost every year, & they keep on winning. It's not where you draft so much as HOW you draft. Somehow our owner thinks HE can evaluate talent as well as men far more gifted than he. THAT is the difference.

That wasn't JJ, that was ALL on Bill Parcells.

I'd rather be an 8-8 team that goes out and plays hard every game than a 4-12 that ends up with a better draft pick. You can't just flip the switch and become a high effort team overnight.

These are all lame cop outs. The Patriots draft very late every year & THEY keep on winning. You're saying it's better to draft AFTER them? Huh? It doesn't matter WHERE you draft, it matter HOW you draft.

Our biggest negative is not our draft position. It's that our owner thinks HE can evaluate talent as well as some of the greatest GMs in NFL history. Only when Jones realizes that owners own & GMs draft will we ever have a chance. Since his ego will never let that happen, we will be stuck until he dies.

The real question is - will Jerry chase some bling and surrender other high draft positions, stay put or move down?

Jerry is not scouting and going to get these players. Yes he is ultimately responsible, but there are way too many people in place before it gets to him.

He's not reviewing film on them and saying....I want this guy.
Over paying for big name players...yes, that's on him. But the Livings, Bernadaeu types, it's not on him.
