I've been saying it for some time now - if the Cowboys have any hope of contention this next year, they have to figure out a way to replace Demarco's production and I don't think that guy is on the roster right now.

Nobody, including DeMarco, can replace DeMarco's 2014 production

But maybe a combo of guys can come close.

I'd argue that CB is our biggest need. Carr is bad. Claiborne is bad. We have Orlando Scandrick and nobody.

I think CB is near the top for sure.

Going forward it's far from certain that Hardy re-signs and, with the Dez contract situation unresolved, WR could be an issue next year.

However, If we're thinking purely about the coming season, I'd go:

CB (Hopefully Marcus Peters. Maybe Kevin Johnson)
DL
RB (Deepest position in this draft. Someone worth taking will be there)
LB (The Cowboys scouts are great at finding Linebackers, even in the middle rounds)

I'd like to go CB in the first, as they usually pan out better than late round picks, Claiborne excluded. The front office is definitely good at drafting LBs in the middle rounds like you said, and there are a ton of really good RBs in the draft this year. I think they'll draft a couple DTs and a DE as well. I wouldn't mine if it went like this.

CB
DT
RB
DE
DT
OT
P

I respectfully disagree. I honestly think Demarco in a few cases last year, especially towards the end of the season, left some yards on the field. I'm not complaining, mind you - he still got the job done. But as I alluded to earlier, without that type of production, every unit on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball suffers for it. For this reason, I am a strong advocate for the Cowboys picking a RB early in the upcoming draft.

I agree both about drafting a RB and that Murray could have been even better.
I just don't see a back getting 1845 rushing for us this year and I don't see Murray ever doing it again anyway--whether it was for us or anyone else.

The Cowboys will have good run game though. Maybe a tiny bit less carries but still a lot compared to most teams.

RB and cornerback early on, get another linebacker at some point in time (I honestly think that we will mostly be fine there now but another Hitchens type player will help) and we still need a 1-tech... but this team really doesn't value 1-techs so I have a hard time believing we will go that route early. It might also be time to start looking for a backup QB if someone starts to fall. Another fairly big need I believe is swing tackle. So basically... in order...

RB
cornerback
1-tech (which will probably come later)
Swing tackle
Linebacker
possibly a backup QB
