So what's the deal with Jason Witten?

No.

That description is more applicable to your guy, Chris Cooley.

Because Miles Austin and Romo are getting together and drawing up plays and not including Witten. :laugh2:

To be honest, I also held the opinion that Witten was having a down season, at least by his standards.

However, it can't be mere coincidence that Miles Austin has posted some unbelievable numbers over the past three weeks. Perhaps Austin's emergence has something to do with the attention paid to Witten by opponents?

I agree. I also think Dallas is getting more guys involved. Romo hit 10 different players in the passing game. I still think when the heat is on Romo he goes to Witten

Here are Witten's ypc numbers since 2004 (his second year):
11.3, 11.5, 11.8, 11.9, 11.8, 9.4

Yeah, there's definitely something different this year. As others have noted, he's not running (or getting targeted in) the deeper patterns that we've seen before. And I do have to say that he looks slower, more lumbering, to me this year. On the other hand, I've never seen him block better - I wonder if it's a deliberate trade he's making.

early in the season Witten was the focus of most of the pass defense, now that's probably started to change towards being Austin maybe. And somehow teams are forcing Witten to block in the redzone.

No, but I do acknowledge Witten is a top notch blocker. So did Troy Aikman in the Atlanta game.

Pity so many don't understand the value of that skill. Vince Lombardi said this...

"Some people try to find things in this game that don't exist but football is only two things - blocking and tackling."

Hey, don't still my thunder, dude. That's my old sig. :)

I agree, Witten is my favorite player but he is not getting the looks he was getting last yr... now if that has anything to do with TO, i dont know... Im not Skip Bayless!

There is only one ball and it is being shared which is good for the team concept. I'd rather have the defense not key on any particular player. Now, the defenses have to guess where the ball is going. Before, 60-70% were going to Witten and TO.

There have been absolutely no plays on which Witten has had his helmet knocked off and rumbled another 30 yards without it. That says it all.

Not a long list. Just a top 5.

1. Jason Witten...466
2. Jay Novacek...339 (422 total)
3. Doug Cosbie...300
4. Frank Clarke...281 (291 total)
5. Billy Joe DuPree...267

Thanks, the teams always felt more complete with guys like Doug, Billy Joe and Jay on the line. Would have thought that Jay had more in total, really puts Witten in perspective. (HOF)

I just saw something from NFL network and they had balls thrown to stats by Romo and Witten had the most balls thrown to by Romo this season followed by Austin, Crayton then RW.

I agree 100%. Dallas needs to continue to spread the ball around.

I heard that Romo and Austin have been drawing up plays behind his back in the cafeteria.

Some of you guys need to try and go 1 week without the negative attitude towards a player.. Look, this offense is moving the ball up and down the field and at the top of the league in yards & points.. be happy with that, it's not like you are paying Roy or u gave up those picks for him.. Hopefully him and Romo start clicking but if you haven't noticed this offense is just fine and 10 freakin guys got involved last game
