So... Where are all our chicken littles?

So now Cleveland is mediocre? Some posters here (not you necessarily) were crowning the Brownies. You would think they had the greatest offense ever assembled. Anything to put a negative spin on the Cowboys chances.

The Browns should be a good team, but at this point, they're pretty well hammered by injury... can't expect their offense to function at anything near peak efficiency when your best WR and your starting QB only just got back into action in time enough for the regular season to kick off...

So yes, with all those injuries, I'd say characterizing them as "mediocre" is both fair and accurate...

But we did just DESTROY that mediocre team... can't tell you how I was smiling at the end, at the domination of the offensive line...

I expected us to win, but to paraphrase Han Solo: Great game, kid, but don't get cocky.

We don't know if the Browns are as good as last year or not. It was a very enjoyable game, and a good performance from most areas, but it's only one game.

We all know this team is going to be judged on the ability to get to the post-season and win there. Let's enjoy the journey one week at a time and not overhype ourselves.

Well, at least one of the Chicken Littles showed up... LOL...

So tell me, how many of those "real1stic" concerns that you expressed these last few weeks actually showed up yesterday?? Or were you actually pleased at what you saw on the field??

I think I was labeled a "Chicken little" in the preseason. I'm delighted w/ a win, but I still think there is a lot to improve on w/ this team. Try and remember that several of Cleveland's key players were out for this game, and w/ all the first rnd picks on this D, we should never give up a 1st down, let alone a TD.

That has to be the single most profoundly ignorant thing I've ever read, on any message board...

But it helps me understand the Chicken Littles a bit more; if y'all REALLY expect that this Cowboys team should pitch 16 shutouts, and never, EVER give up a first down, of course nothing they'll do in REALITY will meet your ridiculous standards... name one team in the entire history of the NFL that did...

BTW, you did notice that we also had a number of key players out for this game, didn't you?? Naw, it didn't hurt us at all to be missing Newman, Spencer, Hurd or Austin...

We played a team that ranked 8th in the NFL in total offense last year, and held them to 205 yards and 10 points, minus our best cornerback and one of our best pass rushers, and you're STILL not satisified?? Amazing...

Proctor did get killed by Rogers...

Rogers was shading Proctor and going after him every possible chance he had.. If Gurode didnt help out, he would have had 5 more holding penalties

As you can tell by my post count, I'm not a regular poster and I don't consider myself a "chicken little" or a "homer"
We played a great game yesterday and for the most part I am very pleased with what I saw from both units, but we did leave a lot of points on the field and it was a little disconcerting seeing Braylon Edwards running free the way he was. If he makes a few of the easy ones he dropped they probably score 10-14 more points.
I was totally impressed with the way we handled Winslow. He is a very good TE and was a good test for some of the excellent TE's we will be seeing this year.
All in all a very good opening day victory. Now let's hope that Barbers ribs aren't too bad and that Romo doesn't take many more hits like the one he took to the chin and now lets get ready to destroy the Eagles.

Speaking of chicken littles, what happened to the "we gotta have another receiver besides Crayton crowd"?

He looked real good as the #2 yesterday and complemented T.O. and Witten perfectly just like I knew that he would.

you know, if its during the regular season i can understand but over reaction to preseason is plain newbish to me.

I am not one of those handwringers who believes the team is doomed every time someone gets injured or some player struggles in a specific playing instance. But I have no problem expressing concerns about last season either such as as penalties and or undisciplined play carrying over into this new season.

I don't sit around the campfire singing kumbaya and all is well either as during the December slide leading to an early playoff exit.

Pre-season wins or loses don't mean squat, but the first string players practicing well and showing individual or group improvement can be an indicator of how our regular season may start. Heck whenever some player or group such as the defense plays well the analysts comment how they seemed to be getting it together in pre-season as well.

So I don't get starting a thread mocking the excessive worry-warts. Seriously what do we get out of it, a smug sense of knowledgeable fan accomplishment? Does it assure us that all will be well for our team the rest of the way?

The guys that negatively overreacted know they were wrong about the Cleveland game. Why is that not enough? Why gloat over some fretting fans. I am sure there are a couple of fans in here that would rather be right about their negativity and actually be relieved if the team lost to save face. But those aren't balanced or true fans and again there are just a few of them.

I say let's not be as self-righteous with the same fervor as the dysfunctional fans are with their negative thinking.
