They're strong personalities with strong ideas who push Parcells out of a comfort zone. Zimmer strikes me as a ventriloquist puppet with Parcells' hand up his behind. All coaches need coordinators who will push THEIR ideas to the head coach, keep things fresh and innovative. Zimmer seems to be a yes-man just running Parcells' scheme in a scaredy-cat manner. As a head coach, Parcells doesn't have time to be innovative, and Zimmer certainly isn't. I think a defensive shakeup is in order. If that doesn';t work, the head's gotta go.

Clearly he has allowed his offensive staff to innovate. There's no reason he wouldn't allow the defensive staff to do the same, if they had any ideas worth a damn.

how is the offense innovative? a guard pulling? a deep pass? then 2 te sets?

this offense isnt innovative, it just has 2 of the best wr's in the game

I agree. You worry about off-season issue during the off-season and worry about games during the season. Last time I looked we have a game to play this Sat and if we win we keep playing we lose and we are done.

I'll assume you haven't been watching us go seamlessly in and out of of 2 TE and 3 WR sets, shifting into empty backfield sets, countless formations and personnel groupings, tackles as TEs on all manner of plays, west coast and vertical passing schemes, etc - using all our players in different manners, at different points in the game, or scoring about a full TD more per game than we did last year.

Besides all that, it's just business as usual, and pulling guards. woo-hoo.

Valid point.

There is not a single coach on that staff that brings more knowledge and innovation than Coach Parcells and he is not known for being excessively fancy on defense anyways.

If anyone had any ideas, I am sure he would listen. I am sure he listened to Belichick also. We need a coach who can at least demonstrate a knowledge of the defense to be able to speak intelligently about it.

1) Parcells and all of his coaching staff including Zimmer.
2) Julius Jones - Time for Barber to be the feature back in this offense
3) Bledsoe - was screwed over and deserves to be a starter

He trusts Sparano, Palmer and Haley.

He doesn't trust Zimmer.

Simple as that.

Zimmer for sure.
Maybe keep Bill with a new DC (Dom Capers please)
T.O I can handle and I think so can Bill.

Others:

Bradie James
Al Singleton
Marco Rivera
Drew Bledsoe
JJ (only because Parcells stays)
Todd Haley (creating more division than T..O)

The more I think about it the more I am warming up to the Zimmer only idea. It does appear Bill trusts his offensive staff. With an even better offensive line Tony will have a pocket to throw from and the sky is the limit. Hands in your face as soon as the ball snaps is not a pocket. It does appear he limit's Zimmer's freedom and rightfully so. I believe Zimmer has just been along for the ride for awhile now. It's time to open the door and let him off at the next stop.

Bill still has a lot to prove to me in the next month though.

I could go for that, I'd rather have a 7th round draft pick than TO...but who else is avalaible, OL no dominating OL in FA that I no of yet...

need to upgrade the positions not just replacements,

How many times has Parcells said that he has to rein in the creativity of his staff on both sides of the ball? Many times.

If Parcells has to have Belichick to scheme everything, what good is he really?

I find it absurd to blame our coordinators instead of our head coach when our head coach is the one who hires them in the first place and has had four years now to replace them if they are inadequate.

If you think I'm saying the coaches do not bear any blame your wrong but if you think the players are executing as they should and it is all on the coach your wrong.

I don't think it's all one or the other. That's why my original post said, "Now there is a balance between the players and the coaches and the amount of blame or credit each should receive. But I don't see it as just the players out there doing their own thing."

If it is mostly on the players, then I guess our drafts the last few years haven't been as good as most of us originally thought, and/or our players are just mentally-challenged.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think we need to clean house, including the entire coaching staff (possibly Jeff Ireland) and TO.

I'm all for patience when it comes to coaches but it is inconceivable that after four years our team still lacks a discernable identity on either side of the ball. Offensively, are we a power running team that grinds down opponents until they are physically and psychologically demoralized or are we a high-octane scoring machine that can strike from any position on the field? Defensively, are we a unit that intimidates and physically beats up people or one premised on speed and swarming around opponents like pesky nats that are seemingly everywhere?

What's most disappointing about the Parcell's era is the absence of a plan for this team. Parcell's talks running the ball but fails to address the offensive line. He talks about drafting big, physical defenders that can physically overwhelm opponents yet our players are consistently the ones that look tired and defeated at the end of games.

I think it's time to turn over the reigns to someone who has a vision for this team and the ability to methodoically implement that vision on the field.

BP only has one year left, unless for some very odd reason he ends up receiving and accepting an extension.

So since it is just one more year, in all liklihood, I don't see alot changing so I really don't mind (and actually am in favor of) him leaving after this season.

But if he comes back for another season that would be alright, as long as we could get a solid DC in here like a Crennel, if available, or Capers, etc.

If the most that'll happen is BP promotes Bowles, then adios. There'd really be no sense in him returning, imo.

For anyone that has been paying attention, I have supported Owens coming here from day one.

I didn't care one way or the other before he came, ... but my approach was that - "if Parcells signs off on him coming here, then bring it on".

I think he played well and put up great numbers.
I like the guy and not having him in our offense would hurt.

Having said all of that, I am not sure having him here WITHOUT Parcells here is such a good idea.

Weaker coaches can't really make the whole T.O. experience sucessful.
