so who you calling the bust of the draft top 32

I'm going with Tyron Smith.

I truly don't think he's ready to enter the man's league (still too young) and he is somehow being brought up as a top 15 pick.

I like him, but I just think if you expect productivity out of him right away, you will be dissapointed.

If we draft him, I hope I'm wrong though and I will definitely be rooting for him

What happens when any player is punched in the mouth? That's a rather generic, rhetorical argument you could make against anyone. If anything, growing up in a football family will have him more prepared than most. He's seen first hand from his father and his uncle the type of work ethic and dedication that's necessary to play at a high level in the NFL, and the toll it takes on your body. Unlike a lot of kids, he's coming into this with his eyes wide open.

It was generic, but I lack the necessary originality to explain how he seems to fold in the face of better competition. When I see he's grown up in a privileged environment my first thought is he's too soft for the NFL. That last step from d-1 to the highest level is too much. It may have nothing to do with his comfortable up bring and my bias is certainly showing, but give me a kid that's kept himself clean and comes from a modest home. My money's on him when blood's being drawn. Hokie, I know. I'm getting Carpenter vibes.

Does being the son of Leo Wisniewski really mean he came up in a privileged environment? His pops played 4 years in the NFL in the 80's. Not quite the career his uncle had.

We're getting to the point now where a lot of these former NFL players have sons that are top prospects.

Scratch Cameron Jordan, Cameron Heyward, Mark Ingram off your list as well.

Down the road........what about Barry Sanders Jr.?

Not that I think they WILL be busts, but I would not be surprised:

Quinn
Locker
Newton

Leo was a good provider for his family. Smart with his money, a hard worker. These are good things. He made sure his kids went to good schools and had every opportunity they could. They seem to be a great family. But I think coming from a place like that, somewhat counterintuitively, is a barrier to achieving at the highest level. They have and use all the tools for success, but when they come up against a person who has learned these things as well, and who knows they'll be on the streets if they don't perform, the incentive for that little extra something comes out.

I can't say it isn't just a cognitive bias of mine. My mind just jumps to Chris Simms vs Michael Irvin. Not rational, not fair. But adversity in youth makes better players.

Torrey Smith.

There is a lot of hate for Cam, but I think he is going to suprise a few people. Not saying he will be the next Manning, but I can forsee puttting up Big Ben/McNair type numbers....not sure if he will win any Super Bowls, but I wouldn't rule it out either.

He doesn't have anywhere near the passing skills of any of those guys. He has the passing skills of Vince Young.

Please explain Payton and Eli and the othe players I mentoned.

I think if Prince goes in the top 10 he may not live up to the expectation.

I think Von Miller's production is dependent on the DC/scheme. If used correctly, he could do very well. Otherwise, I think as a potential top 5- 7 pick maybe disappoint a bit. Not necessarily a "bust".

I prefer Solder in the 20s, not really before.

I'm not keep on C Newton as a top 5-10 pick.

If Newton goes top 10 he is a bust as a QB. He is a Vince Young type player. Maybe not quite the head case of Vince Young and that could help him, but he just isn't an NFL QB. He plays the wrong position.

I think Fairley has bust potential just because he is lazy. (he has the talent no question) I think he will be like a Shaun Rogers type player. Not exactly a bust, but a big time under-achiever for the talent he has.

Von Miller has big bust potential too.

Where are you getting the lazy comment from on Fairley ? I watched several Auburn games and he plays with a high motor. Does he have some off the field issues ?

Look beyond his final season. He knew he was going to enter the draft after last season.

He played ball at Co-Lin Jr. college , which is about a mile from my house. Nobody around here even remembers him . Could it be a case of him being a late bloomer ?

Shurg, the man is super talented. Although, I just know he will end up being an under-achiever. Especially considering his talent level.

I think he has a chance to be special. He's not Vince Young II. He's vastly more intelligent. I'd wager he didn't make a 6 on the wunderlic.

I think the risk with him is he thinks a bust (not the draft kind) is already in the works up in Canton. I believe he has a WR's mentality, and that will have to change. IMO, he's worth the gamble, but whoever takes him has to keep in mind that he is a huge risk.

I'll say this about Fairley. I've watched SEC football my entire life, and I've never seen a DL dominate in the SEC the way he did. Many of the linemen he was embarrassing each week will be playing on Sunday.

GA, LSU, TN, Bama and Florida have had a ton of 1st round DLs over the years, and not one of them dominated the way Fairley did this year (with the caveat that I was too young to really appreciate Reggie White or anyone prior the mid 80s).

Fairley probably does have a high bust factor, what with him only having one great season, but like his teammate, he's worth the risk.

Tyrone Smith - another athletic, pampered, unprepared USC bust, but only if the Cowboys pick him.
