If your personnel is good enough, the play calling doesn't matter much. Jimmy Johnson called the same running play against the Bills to begin the second half of SB XXVIII all the way to a touchdown & they still couldn't stop it. He called ONE passing play the entire drive. Point is, Johnson was an even better talent evaluator than coach, as hard as that is to believe. The team doesn't have that now, so each OC they hire has to coach average talent, especially on the offensive line. Poor blocking, poor rushing attack.

I watched the Broncos-Giants game yesterday & saw a quality running game from Denver. There was a hat on a hat from the offensive line to the TEs to the WRs. THAT is what it takes to run the ball. THAT is what Dallas doesn't have.

Typical fan knee jerk reaction. You need to think about what you wrote and play out all the ramificaitons of such a move. Ain't gonna happen

Petrino will make somebody a great NFL OC. He has one of the greatest offensive minds in the country, and his future as a college football HC isn't looking too hot.

We've got to get offensive help! NFL nobodies are surpassing us in offensive potency.

I've always blamed the offensive line, but today Romo had a lot of time and we still couldn't get it going. There has been a painful lack of creativity with this offense for far too many years.

Jerry, bring in Petrino and let him work his magic. You won't regret it.

We should have got Norv Turner last year, as soon as he was let go by San Diego.

Heck, they might as well go out and hire Dungy to re-build the team as HC#1. Hire Gruden as HC #2 and go get Norv to be assistant coach. Then bring in Lovie to be def coord#1 and retain Marinelli as coord #2. Leave Kiffin there to mentor and map out a napping rotation on the lazy-boys.

Dude, that's a great idea.

Please help me with that. All I'm seeing is a more dynamic offense. I'm recommending a new offense/new offensive coordinator rather than blowing the whole thing up.

There's been 2 games played and the Cowboys are 1-1. No time for knee jerk reactions.

Honestly if Dallas goes 7-9 or 8-8 do you think Garrett stays or goes? I want Garrett to be the guy ,but we all know Jerry has little patience.

Stays. Jerry will reach for reasons to keep him another year. He has gone out on the proverbial limb to state that Garrett is something special. As impatient as he may be at other times, he won't fess up to a mistake so easily.

You know what i'd like to happen.

Jerry finally decides the heck with it, fires Garrett and Callahan and hires a new offensive coordinator.. but doesn't name a head coach.

He just does it 'his way babee!', no more pretending, no more pretense, no more charades, two coordinators on the sidelines handling their respective units with Jerry overseeing everything from the disco room in the sky.

Epic must see TV.

I will say this. The offensive line pass protection looks the best I have seen for several years. Callahan deserves some of that credit.

So what kind of offense does Bobby Petrino run?
