In the depressing 1st day of free agency, I actually have a positive thought.
They want to move Byron Jones to CB.
They want to move Jaylon to SLB.
Those may play better to the strength of the player instead to the desire of one rigid Marinelli.
Perhaps this shows that the FO is quietly moving on from Marinelli and to the pass defense coordinator.

Rearranging the deck chairs did nothing to improve the fate of the Titanic.

That doesn't seem like a bright spot to me. A first rounder with still no position, and a 2nd rounder and still no position..........

Google The Commanders Free Agent Binge of 2006.

How did that work out?

Why is it a depressing 1st day?
We signed one of the biggest profile players in DeMarcus Lawrence to the franchise tag. We tendered a 2nd round offer to what could be a key part of the DL this year.
And we saved millions and millions of future cap space by not jumping the gun to overspend.

Actually I feel pretty good about it. And as you mentioned in your positive thoughts, it is a good point, use the players to their strengths. So over all not a bad day at all.

depressing because there are several huge holes in the roster, and would not likely be addressed in FA.
i hold out mild hope that an average MLB would be signed, but that is about it.

Well I do t find it depressing at all. Maybe very slightly disappointed they didn’t sign any players that could step in and help. But I am not depressed, angry, upset mad or crying in my drink type attitude.

Tomorrow is another day and plenty of players out there. Including some of our own.
