Some of you will never be positive, or happy about anything

We have asked this team to be players in free agency and be active in free agency.

They’ve done it.

And now there are certain miserable people in this fanbase who now say “well they haven’t done anything in 30 years”. You just won’t ever be happy. Even if we win a SB you will complain why we didn’t win it sooner. So those fans? Who cares. They want to be miserable.
Don't think they've really been much of a player in free agency. They've shown for years that they like trades (Cooks, Gilmore, Cooper, Tavon Austin, etc.) as a function of team-building, but they are still cheap in actual free agency. Now, even their trades have usually been for players on the back end of their careers or who didn't live up to their draft status (Elam and Murray qualify for that status this year). The Pickens trade harkens back more toward what we did with Cooper.

I still think we need to couple our trades and drafting with better use of free agency, but I don't expect the Joneses to change their free agency ways. At least it was slightly different this year, where they got their cheap guys on the front end instead of waiting until the first-week frenzy was over.

They certainly didn’t splurge in free agency with tier 1 players but it does look like they’ve gotten better quality this year. At least on paper.

I don't know. Fowler would be considered a quality signing coming off a 10-sack season. Of course, that's why he cost the most at $6 million, a price Dallas hasn't paid a FA in a long time.

OL Robert Jones ($3.75 million) was a starting lineman the Dolphins replaced in free agency before he signed with us. He started at left guard and allowed five sacks (1st the team), four quarterback hits (1st), 19 hurries (2nd), and 28 pressures (2nd). It looks like a better signing after drafting Booker because he's clearly now just depth.

DE Payton Turner ($3 million) failed as a first-round pick in New Orleans. His last year was his best and he only had two sacks, three QB hits and 21 tackles. I think he's here for the role that Golston had last year as a run-stopping end. At this point, I don't think anyone should be looking for him to become a major factor against the pass.

DT Solomon Thomas ($2.75 million this year, but a rare two-year FA deal) is kind of the opposite of Turner. He can add some pressure (3.5 sacks last year, which is decent for an interior lineman), but he's not necessarily a player you want out there trying to stop the run.

WR Parris Campbell ($1.3 million) barely got on the field for Philadelphia last season and wasn't much better for the Giants the previous season. He's battled all kinds of injuries and has had only one productive year.

RB Javonte Williams ($3 million) has averaged 3.6 and 3.7 YPC the last two seasons.

RB Miles Sanders ($1.3 million) has been even worse at 3.3 and 3.7.

LB Jack Sanborn ($1.5) wasn't even thought highly enough of by Chicago's front office to tender him as an RFA. Perhaps it was because he isn't that good in coverage.

OL Hakeem Adeniji ($1.1 million) and Saahdiq Charles ($1.5 million) also have some starting experience, but also appear to be questionable enough to not draw a lot of money.

I'm not sure that differs much from RB Royce Freeman (who'd averaged 4.1 YPC the year before we signed him), RB Ezekiel Elliott, LB Erik Kendricks, re-signing OL Chuma Edoga to be the primary backup, re-signing Jourdan Lewis to be the nickel corner, re-signing Rico Dowdle.

The players we signed and traded for are fill-ins for the players we lost: Edoga as the swing tackle, Elliott/Dowdle as the running backs, Lawson as a pass-rushing DE, DeMarcus Lawrence/Golston as a run-stopping DE, Golston/Watkins as pass-rushing backup DT, Lewis as nickel corner, Kendricks as MLB and Cooks as the No. 2 receiver.

We also traded for Elam, Murray and Pickens to cover those losses.

Are the players we got an improvement over what we lost? That's hard to say for the most part. Most were cheap for a reason.

There’s a good documentary out on Netflix Untold: Shooting Guards that show’s what happens when you get off on poking people for a reaction. It’s about the Gilbert Arenas, Jarvaris Crittenhen locker room gun fiasco.
I actually been waiting to watch that. Looked good.

Finish this statement. For me I’m going to say some of you will never be positive, or happy about anything. There’s no winning for you! When the drought is over, you will find a way to poop on it somehow someway…

Look, I’ve callled out Jerry and Sons as much as anyone the last year and a half and even for the better part of three decades. But don’t be so ridiculously pompous, that when they do something decent or that makes sense, you have to drag it in the dirt a few times before you’re Alishasatisfied that enough of you’re type of company is on the same page. Misery loves company!!!

We’ve been begging for this type of off-season for a lot of years. It’s been nonexistent. Most of you here either didn’t take economics, or didn’t do well in any type of applied mathematics, so you don’t understand the math behind the scenes. You gripe about everything because you have a lack of understanding. Theres no hope for this group. With what the FO has to work with, and what they must accomplish this off-season, they have actually done a good job so far in 25’. If you can’t say that now, you will have no right to change your tune , if the moves they have made this offseason prove to be successful!

My point with all of this is even if you are a hopeless fan, there can be days where you have to admit some decisions they make are a win for the team. You don’t have to continue the negativity to the point where you look like the person you’re claiming you hate! There will be plenty of reasons to do that later. Be happy when they actually do a good thing!!!
This is why the Cowboys are the most valuable team in sports. I have to hand it to Jerry he does enough to con the fans into thinking the Cowboys are contenders. Don't hold your breath waiting for the drought to be over.

Things are moving in the right direction.

Ignore reality.

This time, it can't fall apart again, can it? After all, we drafted a guard in the 1st round, and a slightly above average one at that! As we all know...guards are the key to championships. Just believe....again

I guess time will tell.

Not really
Children are those who believe in the tooth fairy and unicorns
Facing reality and facts is being an adult

This FO and GM have no plan, are reactive and have little understanding of how to build a SB team. Dont take my word for it, just look at the FACTS from the last 30 years

So, all the kumbaya and ‘positivity’ and sunshine pumping does not change the facts

We are a mediocre team and usually mediocre teams dont win SBs

I prefer to face facts
It does not make me ‘sad’
I feel sorry for the blind homers
You feel sorry for people who choose to be happy and enjoy something more than you do? Let's not pretend fans have any say or control over the outcomes in any way. So what is all of your misery and negativity doing for you? Does it make you enjoy this form of entertainment more?
It sounds like football is an unhealthy obsession for someone like you. Why even watch and follow something you have no control over yet makes you so negative and unhappy?

We are all just meat walking around on a huge rock traveling through space. We only get a very small number of years to live. Maybe don't feel sorry for people who choose to enjoy something that makes you miserable. Let them. Why do you feel your dose of "reality" helps them enjoy the small amount of time we get to even live.

Enjoyed the post. Life is finding the positives and forgetting the negatives but for some being negative is an outlet they have to have. Been a Cowboy fan since 1960, so I have seen the best of them and the worst of them. Still a fan and always hopeful that the season is a success.

Guess I am different in that yes I want a Super Bowl every year but also know that it isn't realistic. So for me winning and getting into the playoffs makes my day, then everything else is icing on top. Winning the Super Bowl is as much about talent and attitude as it is about the luck of the draw, the least amount of injuries, the right officiating crew, the weather, and ultimately the bounce of the ball.

Hopeful for the season. Had a very good off season and draft, so here we go.

I joined this mid way through last season as a way to went
And have to admit I’ve been very negative towards the FO ( Jones) and Dak
Have enjoyed the interaction from other Cowboy fans though not always positive I appreciate there view point

But this offseason has been different
1st the new coaching staff
And though they didn’t make any splash signings in FA it seems better than the past
Then the draft , seemed to pick High quality players
Finally a trade that is worth the risk
( even if it doesn’t work out and he leaves after a season ) we will get a comp pick

Not saying the ship has completely turned around and we are Super Bowl bound but it does seem as things have turned for the better
Realizing we haven’t had training camp yet

But i believe we have something to be optimistic about

Anyone who thinks Jerry doesn't give a damn about winning might be shocked to see how much worse things will be once Stephen takes over. Remember the owner from the 1st 'Major League' movie? Stephen is going to be a thousand times worse
Jerry wants to win. I never said he doesn't. Its just that it's not his top priority.

Yes Stephen will be worse. Ala Raiders when the son took over.

Its a sad thought.
