Some perspective for the TO haters

As a lifelong Cowboy fan, I am always reading some of the interesting conversation on this board. Some good, some not so good. The one consistent lighting rod on this and any other forum related to the Cowboys is TO.

From the moment Jerry & Bill brought him in, I was sceptical but was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. In my opinion, through all the soap opera circus that he brings, he has been worth the trouble. And to be honest, how much trouble has he really brought? TO's biggest problem is he craves the spotlight and will do anything to get it, but let's look at how he is covered by the media compared to others.

TO is covered by BSPN for anything and everthing (pulled hamstring, Tour de France bicycle ride, sleeping in a meeting, broken hands, sptting, you name it), however, players such as as Manning and Tank Johnson of the Bears commit full blown crimes and receive an hour of attention. It sickens me to think these guys can pull things like having unregistered firarms in their house right next to their children, and all the Bears organization can do is keep him out of the Bucs and Lions games. Manning can intimidate and abuse a person in a restaurant and recieve little or no media attention for his crimes. I know there are others along this same ilk ( I still can't for the life of me see how Ray Lewis is some media darling) but I think it gives a pretty good idea how all things TO get blown out by the media.

You may not like his flashyness, or his love of the spotlight at all costs. Heck, it bothers me too. But if you look past the media perception and the self induced hype, TO is a top flight WR who works as hard on the field as anyone. His teamates seem to support him and he has made our team better this year. Love him or hate him, you have to appreciate that.

just out of curiosity when you say as a lifelong Cowboy fan...do you mean since the team's inception or since your birth

Great Post, If only the ESPN and the rest of the media could look at it that way, but all they care about is $$$$$$, who sells more T.O. or Tank, It`s all BS.

Believe me, I have more problems with the T.O. defenders this year than T.O. himself.

How in God's name could we ever accept him as a Cowboy after that?!:D

It's definitely all about money. TO = ratings

Tank Johnson? Who cares?

DeAngelo Hall running his mouth = ratings
Newman staying quiet and doing his job = who cares?

It's the age of the highlight.

I think you're giving Owen's a little too much credit. If you take this:

TO is covered by BSPN for anything and everthing (pulled hamstring, Tour de France bicycle ride, sleeping in a meeting, broken hands, sptting, you name it), however, players such as as Manning and Tank Johnson of the Bears commit full blown crimes and receive an hour of attention.

and replace it with this:

The Cowboys are covered by BSPN for anything and everthing (pulled hamstring, Tour de France bicycle ride, sleeping in a meeting, broken hands, sptting, you name it), however, players such as as Manning and Tank Johnson of the Bears commit full blown crimes and receive an hour of attention.

Owen's is but a microcosm of Cowboy historical bias. Same story, different player, the beat goes on.

Good grief. Does it really bother you TOJSD's so much that some of us really do not like Terrell Owens the man. Nearly everyone of us has said that we root for him to do well because he is a Cowboys player and we want the team to win. Most of us would like to see him score 20 touchdowns because it helps the Cowboys.

Guys like you and YoMick who keep starting threads directed at us Owens haters are really hard to understand.

Does it just grate in your craws so bad that some people don't like the same player you do, that you're forced to continue to call people out and try to change their minds? Why do you care? We all want the Cowboys to win the superbowl and if Owens is on the team and contributes to that win, then fine. We're not going to be so let down that he gets some credit that it's going to spoil the wins for us. And your posts are certainly not going to make me like a person that I just can't stand.

I detest the man and firmly believe he has mental problems. That's just my opinion and you don't have to agree with it. But I'm not going to start a thread calling you out because you really like the guy.

Didn't start this thread to get you all worked up. MY point is that his actions are put in a different perspective that any player in the league. I don't care what you think of him as a person. You are entitled to your opinions as I am mine.

Furthermore, if it bothered you that I made a thread about what I think about TO (my first post on TO by BTW, so don't make it sound like I have all these pro TO posts out there) then just move on to the next post.

Because your thread title directed this thread directly at me and the other Owens haters that's why. It doesn't bother me a bit that you like him.

His action is what creates the different perspective because it is always something with him. The media did not just wake up one day and said hey lets pick on TO, TO has handed them the ammo for years and while many around here keep saying "I give him the benefit of the doubt or he has a clean slate with me" The media is not going to do that they see the same person that they saw in SF and the same guy in Philly. Some of us Cowboys fans see the same thing, yes he has great talent but he does not know when to shut up and bring the negative attention on himself and the teams he plays for. I'm not so sure TO would be getting this much love if he was still in Philly where the vast majority around here thought he was a jerk, now he is just mis-understood poor little T

This is the precise reason why I don't like him. He is a simply an attention ***** and jerk. I don't care how media picture him, I could see it for myself just fine.
