Some positives...

I know everyone is on suicide watch today but for those that didn't end it all last night there WERE some positives in the game:

1. We ran the ball very well! Barber & Felix Jones were outstanding and had some big runs and that was against a top defense. The O-Line was excellent in opening some big holes for them to run through. It was evident that having Kosier back is a huge difference over last year. His ability to pull and make blocks was a major key. The cutbacks also killed the Giants a number of times.

2. We shut down the run against a very good running team. Other than a couple of big runs on the first drive of the 2nd half, we completely negated the Giants' running attack and stifled that loudmouth Jacobs all night.

3. Even with everything seeming to go against us, every bounce, every call, the turnovers, etc., we still led with 4-seconds to go in the game. That showed me that this team does have some heart and will not quit no matter how badly things are going.

4. Special Teams played very well. Beeler did what he was drafted to do and put every kickoff I saw into the endzone. The coverage teams did a very nice job of not allowing any long returns (except one that was brought back because of a penalty anyway), and our kickoff returns were pretty good. We do need someone to replace "Fair Catch" Crayton on punt returns though, but otherwise STs did a nice job last night.

I just checked and the Giants didn't start a single drive after a kickoff beyond their 25. So every time we kicked off they started no further than their own 25 yard line. That is outstanding!

5. Jay Ratliff was a beast! The guy had a great game last night and was everywhere. How many NTs can cover a RB out of the backfield and make a play like that! Amazing!

That's it. The game is over and now we can start to prepare for the Panthers next Monday Night.

I know Romo had a terrible game and it just seemed like every bounce of the ball went their way, but it is still early in the season and we barely lost to the team most experts were picking to represent the NFC. One or two breaks and that game is completely different.

Yes, I was very disappointed in the loss, but the things I saw that were problems were all fixable IMO. Getting the ball out earlier would help Romo a lot. It seemed as if he was taking a long time to get the ball out and none of our guys were open much.

I agree with pretty much everything you said but the fair catches had more to do with Feagles than Crayton. The guy is amazing with his ability to put the ball exactly where he wants it. I'd rather have Crayton fair catching everything then someone who muffs the punt or runs around trying to find a hole and loses ground.

I was also encouraged by the fact Dallas had 4 penalties on the night. As a team they are showing better disapline.

If it were just this game then I would agree, but Crayton fair-catches the ball nearly every time he is back there. I do agree that Feagles is an excellent punter though.

I meant to point that out as well. It seemed like more because they came in a bunch. Two of them on a drive when we had the Giants stuck deep in their own territory.

Too bad two of them allowed the Giants to drive down the field at the end of the game.

to be honest I think that is why they put him in sometimes. They do it when they want to make sure somebody doesn't make a bad decision, like when the momentum is turning their way and we finally get a stop.

4 is better than 10 to 12.

Yes but 3 of them were killers.

Flo tripping, holding on Barbie on the third down, and Newman's PI

I agree no penalty is a good penalty. Flags in my view was not the reason for our loss. Over the last few years this team has been in double digits in penalties in 2 games we have 8

I would add that the O-line was quite good in pass protection, too. O-line had a great game (except for the costly tripping penalty).

That's true, Romo had lots of time on most plays.

It seemed like every penalty extended a drive (or series).

Also, that tripping penalty on Flo was a cheap shot and seriously injured Osi (or whomever that was). If Ware was injured similarly by one of their OL-men, we'd be screaming bloody murder.

What a frustrating game.

I keep posting it, but of course I'm largely ignored by the "told you so" crowd of doom-and-gloomers that for some reason relish in our losses...

but we have to take this one at face value for what it was. We scored 31 points on a night that we were clearly not playing very well, had numerous miraculous bounces land in their hands, and they won on a last second field goal.

we have half as many turnovers (yes, Tony could still throw two picks!) and we win by 17+. I think the play of the game was Flozell's tripping call, to be honest.

Bottom Line: It was a bad, frustrating game in Week 2 against a good football team. Chalk it up as a learning experience, take a good look at some film, and get ready to put a whipping on Carolina next Monday. 14 more left, ladies and gents!

We can talk about positives all day and yes there were some. Bottom line and where I'm at right now is that it's like death and taxes..

Flo will do something stupid and Turnover Tony will break your heart everytime.. he'll throw an inexplicable int as if he has no clue whatsoever that throwing the ball up to a safety waiting like a punt returner isn't ok. This pretty much wipes out all positives

Kosier: best game as a Cowboy IMO.

Colombo and Leonard Davis had great games as well. Cleared some enormous running lanes against the vaunted Giants front 7.

We played bad! We play half good, and the game isn't even close! Be encouraged. I'd rather have this happen now than later in the season when we should be peaking for a playoff run.

tripping is only a cheap shot on the kindergarten playground--it was a penalty but not "cheap"

Two of the penalties were pretty marginal, too. I can see why they called Newman for a cut-off on the interference, but it was close. He was in pretty good position, which was unusual this night. And the Carpenter call was awfully picky. Actually, I think if Carpenter hadn't thrown up his hands and looked guilty, it probably wouldn't have been called.

The Giants had some lucky bounces last night. So have we in previous games so we can not blame the loss on bad luck but it certainly does not make it any easier to swallow.

- INT that bounced off Witten's shoe?
- NYG TD bounced off the player as he was going to the ground and he still caught it?
- The NYG game winning drive on a crucial 3rd down, Ratliff gets his hand on the ball and it somehow wobbles to the intended receiver to convert?
