-Notice outside of Lawrence and our receiver in the 7th rd, Cowboys took players from power conferences-Big10/SEC.

-I think the roster has too much youth at a few positions, would be wise to add a veteran or two. Not so much to become progress stoppers, but help with their development. Perfect world you bring along these players slowly rather than throw them in the fire before they are ready.

-Do believe by the end of camp, Downs is going to be wearing the green dot helmet. His football IQ is off the charts. Keep in mind OSU developed a defense around him not those other great players and he was the leading tackler as a freshman with Alabama.

-Big vote of confidence for our 2nd yr running backs in Mafah and Blue as they decided against drafting another back. The opposite for Schoon, Carson, Marist-all will be fighting to keep their roster spots.

-Think they did a good job to give them some options at key positions. For example, if they move on from a Steele or a Bland next offseason, they have options already in place while they develop this season.

What in your opinion is the biggest weakness left? MLB? CB? Pass rush?

I would look into signing a few veterans so these kids don't have to be thrown into the fire. Bobby Wagner for example would be an excellent addition as a bridge player. Player like Von Miller would be excellent to have around to help develop these young edge rushers. Jackson started for the Eagles last season and knows the scheme.

Not necessarily, a lot of the guys you mentioned are coming up on the end of their contract this is sink or swim for pretty much all of them. Liufau and Schoon showing they can at least do things on the field with NFL starters but none have done anything to earn a 2nd contract.

I could see a vet inside LB but I think they only take 5 since their are only two spots and Dee Winters appears to be the vet they went with. Eagles kept five each of ILBs & OLBs as an example.

Basically the same thing as OLB/edge I think again they already have the five guys they go into the season with and Gary is the vet they chose. Wheat & Williams are good STs players.

Slim pickings in FA at LB these days.

Only name that interests me after Wagner is Matt Milano, but I guess he's like Lee in that staying healthy is impossible for him.
That being said, sort of recall him being a playmaker when healthy

I agree with most of that but they've added veterans at every level... D winters at linebacker is a journeymen vet, It's not like they need a wide receiver they already have a lot of veterans in that room but scandaling He's a veteran, TE room, Lots of experience don't think they need help, I mean the defensive line has all kinds of veterans I mean guys at a play together like Gary Clark I mean Q is no spring chicken, Backs corners plenty of experience I think it's a healthy mix and outside of maybe trying to think of where you're at with this the linebacker group it's kind of full of youth but that's OK but yeah I think the only group that might be thin and need some help is bringing in a guy like Clowney at defensive end/OLB..

But I fully believe they might bring in a guy off the free agent linebacker list like Wagner, White, or Okereke.. No one really complained about the youth movement in 1991 and 92 when the Cowboys were building through the draft making some trades.. Sure what happened but people think they need to be full of veterans hell Washington was like AARP group over there...

Good thinking about it why I'm typing maybe the offensive line needs a veteran like we brought in Peters at one time but maybe for the tackle position I think the swing tackle should be a veteran even though the guy we just drafted can work his self in there that's the only place I would like to see a veteran a true Left tackle that can play a little right tackle but a veteran that maybe you can't depend on for 17 games but can do a five or six games if needed..

I don't know why they were doing that for Dan Quinn's first couple of seasons and now they've gone the other direction youth and health are very important I think the coaches should coach him up but I think there's enough veterans on this team..

You say that but the same list was there four weeks ago is still there it's relatively untouched this is what happens a couple of weeks before the draft and right after where they're trying to figure out needs and then those lists will start getting picked apart they have Wagner, Okereke, and White and by the way Devin White has ties to Parker If you're not looking for a guy to start 17 games with a nice veteran presence that you can rotate in emergency green dot guy at middle linebacker they're right there they've been there for almost four weeks or more nobody's touched that list because most of those guys don't want to go through all these early camps and stuff just like Clowney they usually come in late like right around training camp..

Not drafting a running back is a big vote of confidence for our young backs.
I said this last year and it turns out I was right and I'm saying it again but I'm going to add to this Blue will have a bigger role as long as he keeps his head straight He has a lot of talent and something most of our players don't have is natural speed and instincts at the running back position He just needs to get comfortable but the guy I know is basically a younger version of will he'd be a perfect rotational backup because they're very much alike.. Phil Mafah. And if they're keeping Davis I'm with you I think that whole room along with we're hearing that Hunter is gonna get a few more snaps at running back Maybe they're going to use less of CD and Turpin at running back which I agree they should that should be where you use blue and you can rotate in Mafah in Davis..

Keep on asking me what the hell is up II have confidence in that room I like that room I don't see a problem with them standing pat and not bringing in anyone else maybe stash a guy on the practice squad for insurance reasons but that's a solid room in my opinion.

Hunter FB/hybrid big RB

Williams-Clear starter but needs more breaks

Blue-change of pace back, could be big hitter of the backfield and out in routes but around 10 carries or less and few routes is good..

Davis- He's the tweener He's exactly what they would hope Miles Sanders would have offered last year he can do a little of both a little up the middle a little around the corner he runs a lot like Tony Pollard Not saying he's bothered but he got that same look..

Mafah- He's been my pet cat for a while i've been waiting for him to get out in the field I believe the only reason they didn't bring him off IR they were gonna be at a transactions with so many injuries on the defense they just stashed him there that means he'll be fully healthy and ready to go if something happens to Williams I believe he should be the next guy up for getting the bulk of the snaps not all of them you would definitely have to change the way you use your reps amongst everyone if that would happen But I like this guy I don't know why he will end up being that guy that beyond that List next year when everyone says what guy was the biggest disappointment that you had high hopes for and that's Phil Mafah...

Are we sure about that? Just my opinion…but I think it remains to be seen if Blue and Mafa have gained a vote of confidence. I certainly hope they have improved a lot. And we will surely see in due time.

But I also think it would not be a surprise to see us add some a RB or two before camp. And maybe more likely, picking up someone when final cuts are made in early September.

I think we solved a lot of the linebacker issues, but I still think the biggest weakness. Would be everybody working together, learning how to work as a team. I think we have the people.

Vets to add Brooks or Wagner and Clowney.

Where did you put the guy we got from San Francisco for the fifth round trade?

GREAT example. No question the Cowboys were looking not only at this year, but into the future as well.
