Some pre-combine draft/fa thoughts/opinions

Taking a high LB is all contingent of not extended Lve. If he returns, very unlikely they draft that position, unless someone falls unexpectedly in their laps.
Sanders is a completely different player than LVE. I think his ability as a pass rusher is what makes him such an attractive prospect. IMO he’s going to be ranked pretty high on this team’s board.

You aren't get any draft picks this season for Pollard and probably would receive a 4th comp in 2024. Tagging Pollard is fine, if they let Zeke walk, we can always move on from him next season, like it appears we will do with Shultz.
I know, you get the draft pick next year.

Chark is talented, but always hurt, he will be playing on his 3rd team early in his career. Hard pass for me, especially his price tag.
Chark is exactly what they need. Just costs 10 million.

He has missed games every year in his career and will be playing on his 3rd team. Extremely risky signing for any team. If the Cowboys are going to pay that type of money, it won't be for a player like Chark who has just 1 season of barely 1,000 yards and his highest TD total for a season is just 3.

It doesn't matter. He is healthy now. What is risky is not signing a receiver that they need. They can give him the 10 million and let Pollard walk and draft a back and a receiver.

They are going to sign a receiver, but don't think Chark is a good fit, due to his lack of durability and his play. He is just 26, why is he going to play for this third team in three years?

Yes, I am aware of his skillset, but in my opinion, if he is similarly rated with a corner/receiver, they will go in that direction. Understand you never have enough pass rush, but that was a strength last season, the other areas are bigger concerns.

Because he signed a 1 year deal last year. They probably sign him or OBJ.

Even if Pollard leaves in 2024, we still will get a comp selection.
Yep, and if he leaves this year, you save the money, take advantage of the draft and use the money to sign another player or players. And get the draft pick next year.

OBJ is the favorite, but there will be a few others who became available when the offseason starts. Cooks, Keenan Allen could be out there as well.

They probably are going to move on from Shultz, they aren't going to wipe away him and the whole running back room. Last yr, they traded away Cooper, but kept Shultz on the tag, it would of been too much to absorb in 1 offseason, think they will do the same this yr.

It will be interesting to see if they draft Mayer or Musgrave and what they do with the running backs. I think that Zeke and Schultz are gone for sure. Not sure what they do with Pollard.

I don't disagree, but I am saying they aren't going to pass up Robinson if he fell to 26.
The shouldn’t but I don’t think he will fall. This draft is weak when it comes to star players. Robinson is probably the most talented of the group. I could see teams like Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Houston, Atlanta, ect drafting him.

I believe they’re going to do the things I’m completely against.

Draft a RB early, pick for need early and not be aggressive in FA.

Sigh.
I know there’s a school of thought not to take RB early but Robinson is different in my humble opinion they’ve done pretty well in the draft. Could they do better sure. I’m not unhappy with McClay at all. If we can get Two or three starters out of this draft what’s the matter with that

All indications they are tagging Pollard.

Key word there is “if”. Probably 2 WR’s and 3 CB’s that will carry 1st round grades. Johnson, Addison, Gonzalez, Porter, and Witherspoon. I expect that they’ll be all be gone. The next group of corners Smith Forbes, Ringo, and Banks I think will be quite a bit lower than where they have Sanders.

-I believe the front office/coaching staff believes the biggest offensive strength lies within their OL. The two hires of Schott/Solari suggests they really want to fix their ground attack, especially schematically. Zeke in all likelihood has played his last game as a Cowboy as I don't see him taking a large paycut to stay. Pollard is the one who they want to keep as he isn't just a RB, but more of a weapon. In my opinion, Bijan Robinson will be a primary target in rd 1, him and Pollard will fix that run game in a hurry. Also, do not rule out taking another high lineman, even as high as rd 1.

-This front office has always prioritized having elite wide receivers, TO/Dez/Amari, etc. After what just happened last season with Tolbert not being ready, I highly doubt that will go the draft route again and look to sign a veteran to fill the need. Now what type of veteran, that remains to be seen. Also, really struggling to believe the team will take an undersized receiver as they never have drafted one in the first two days of the draft. They will add another receiver, but probably in that 3rd-5th rd range.

-Much to my dismay, they aren't going to draft a high tight-end. Just look at the production they have gotten out of Shultz who was a former 4th rd selection. Ferguson was also selected in the same round. This TE group is very deep and they should still find quality in the later rounds at the position.

-I fully expect this team to be looking for another starting corner. They know they have 2 legit starters, but need a 3rd one as their depth has proven they aren't capable when needed to be called upon. Such a deep corner class, but everyone knows they always fly off the board quickly due to the demand at the position. I see corner has a top 3 priority draft need as the market is too expensive to add a quality veteran. There are some rumblings that Diggs is recruiting Patrick Peterson to sign with the Cowboys, he could serve as a bridge, short-term starter on the outside.

-We know this front office has never prioritized the NT position, but they did make a trade in-season for one, which they would of never have done in the past. They also, have taken to late prospects in back to back years. Will Quinn convince them to sign or use a high draft pick at the position?

-Believe they want to keep all their in-house fa's, but it's going to be difficult as three of their stars need contract extensions: Diggs, Lamb & Parsons. It wouldn't surprise me if we see some unexpected releases to create more space, especially where they can take cap hits now and not all in the future. Tyron, Zeke, Armstrong, Gallimore, Lewis, Hooker all could be on the hot seat.
I don't think Bijan will be their top target but they'll draft him if their top targets are off the board.

Same with TE. If Mayer available, they can't pass on Witten 2.0

My guess is that CB is the top target in the 1st; although if Dan Quinn says DT is a must-have, they do whatever it takes to keep Quinn happy. If they sign a legit FA CB then that might change.

Patrick Peterson played for 4M in 2022. I'm in at that price regardless of his age.

Hooker likely stays but Dono probably too expensive to re-sign.

They can decide on Lewis & Gallimore after the draft and maybe after camp.

They'll decide on Tyron immediately. They won't string him out and make him a camp cut. I think he stays due to Steele's availability being unknown. If he stays then no $ spent on OG because the goal will be for Steele to return early in the season, then Tyron moves to LT and Tyler to LG.

Pollard franchised.

It's a near guarantee that they'll acquire a significant veteran WR. They'll pay for receivers. Probably OBJ but I think Houston ends up trading Cooks for a 4th or less.
