Maybe you guys can help me out?
1. If they always intended to sign Dak and Lamb why did they wait until the worst possible time when free agency dried up?
2. Why did you trade for Lance? You traded for a 3rd stringer…
3. So the team who has Jordah Mason and the best running back in the league…felt the need to draft a running back with our 4th rounder….then he proceeded to run down our throats…why did you not draft a running back?
4. Two rookies on the OL with a washed Martin and a never was in Steele. This was gonna improve the line?
5. Why is Mike not fired? So let me get this straight the team collapses to the Packers and lose by 50…and how do you improve the team? You don’t? You set Mike up to fail. Why? Ego? Why did you not fire him when you clearly didn’t want him? You have him coach on a one year deal so no actual good coordinator would come here because they know there’s no future…..
I think all these questions are connected. We knew this front office was incompetent. But I don’t think this is some solid unit. I suspect there’s division amongst McClay, Jerry and Stephen. They are not on the same page and that’s why they can’t contend or even tank effectively.
1. I'm not so sure they intended to always sign Dak. But realizing that there was no other option, or better option than Dak, they had no choice. Not getting Lamb signed earlier was a major screwup, though once Jefferson signed his contract, I'll bet Jerrah secretly kicked himself in the butt for not getting Lamb locked up earlier.
2. The Boys took a flyer on a former first-round pick. Lots of teams do this--the Eagles did it with Dotson. And as underwhelming as Dotson has been, he has given the Eagles more than Lance has given us. If Lance had shown any indication of being a good QB, maybe Dak would have been left to play out his contract.
3. If your team depends on certain positions of strength, you keep that position strong. If you see talent, you get that talent. San Fran has been lucky to keep McCaffery healthy all this time. No sense in keep riding that bet. Be prepared for the worse.
4. IDK what to say. Perhaps they were counting on Steele, being almost two years removed from injury, to show the promise of two years ago. I don't think they thought Martin would suddenly look ordinary. They also believe in their own ability to draft good o-line talent. But no team hits on all their picks.
5. Does firing MM actually accomplish anything? Maybe they finally realize behind closed doors they the team is simply not good enough, and that no coach will change that. Might as well play out the season and clean house when its over.
