Run game will be very inconsistent today as long as the LBers play well and we keep Lee and Ro in the game. Look for Gregory at RDE and Hardy at SDE. If NY is successful on the edges, they will put Hardy at RDE and Lawrence at SDE. Gregory and Lawrence will platoon more that Hardy. Mincey is good against the run but does get caught at times allowing a run inside him.

The DL needs to step up esp if they play a 3 man DL.

NYs RT has had problems in the run game as well as pass protection which is why Hardy and Lawrence need to pressure Eli. That'll put them in a 3 step quick pass game.

In the pass game Eli is inconsistent. If pressured he will make mistakes. NY loves those quick slants. Our LBers have to be watchful and tackle well. Laying the wood esp on Beckham will help. Our CBs can be physical and I look for them to lineup on the inside shoulder and try to limit those inside throws. They need to be physical.

Look for some 2-4 LBer sets esp two in the nickel. I don't think they will need to play the run enough to warrant stuffing the box. At least I hope not. They will play the Nickel, Big Nickel and Dime a good bit. They could roll coverage to any stacked plays.

They must cover those stacked formations better esp the pick plays. Look for NY to work that. Eli will end up with 40+ passes today so the pass coverage needs to be effective.

I wouldn't be surprises to see Carr on Beckham early playing a physical game inside 5 yds to throw off his ability to get off the line. The deeper backs will need to keep an eye when he's passed off or beats Carr. Claiborne may play a pressure defense and the Cowboys may not put Carr on him primarily. I just haven't seen any All22 to see how physical Claiborne.

Look for a couple of INTs today IF they actually catch the ball.

Eli will throw the ball deep some today; if he has the time to do so. Look for 4-5 sacks today.

Dallas

I expect to see 20+ rushes today and if we have 30 and 200 yds then we will be very competitive in the game. I don't know Michael. Randle and McFadden are capable backs esp behind this OL. NY has a good DL so they need to run block and execute their Zone blocks well. NY has one very good LB. If they get a guy on him and open a decent hole then we will see a fair number of 5+ runs. Expect a couple of 20+ runs today.

A good run game will allow Cassel to play a more conservative game to avoid mistakes. It also opens up the intermediate and longer passes. If the run game gets going you will see some play action passes and a fair number of those intermediate passes. I'm not sure how often we will be in the 12 but I expect a fair amount early and more if the run game is successful.

The Giants are near the bottom of the league in the run game so I expect this to work. You are going to see a lot of first down runs esp early when they are trying to establish the run. So don't freak out even if the Giants stuff it.

Cassel is a big key to the game. I think the OL will give him reasonable time to throw even some longer passes to develop. He must protect the ball. Don't get too upset if we start out with short passes to allow him to get some confidence and rhythm. I don't expect a great deal of dink and dunk. They will throw 10+ passes to Witten unless they key him. And they probably will at first until we get them playing the run hopefully.

Their LBers are decent with one very good. They are decent+ in both the run and pass game. They don't blitz a lot but don't be surprised to see run and pass blitzes early esp if Cassel gets rattled or indecisive. They will blitz from the edge and run some games. Cassel is going to have to beat that and his receivers need to be on the same page for that. They don't have anyone other than Witten who is good at that.

Their DBs aren't that good but they get their share of INTs so again Cassel needs to be careful esp throwing in the middle.

STs need to be solid. They don't have a scary STs unit but we are inconsistent here. I don't see either team having a lot of big plays here. Their kicker is not consistent but I expect him to not miss one FG against us.

Prediction

Not real big on this as they are pretty worthless and very inaccurate in today's game but I'll still throw something out there.

Good job, Jobber...

I think you hit the Giant score on the head. 17

This defense finally has everyone back on the field, except Scandrick. That is a very strong group who are growing.

I think that your direction on running the ball is valid. Michael will allow Dallas to start off by pounding the ball. Add in Randle and his strong support role history, and the second half should tire out the Giant defense.

Without errors from Dallas, and turn overs, the Giants will be quickly into a passing game. Then the game is on...but if Dallas gives up free points early, the team will have to just over come adversity with Cassell at the head. Things get very interesting then.

This is one game where I expect the Dallas defense to take a vengeance out on the Giants. I'm predicting a very physical game by our Cowboys.

Other areas are penalties and field position...where they failed miserably against NE. The good news is that the personnel NY has isn't in the same league as what they faced with Brady and co.

I wish I could be as confident but I cannot remember the last time Dallas had a high sack game against Manning at the Meadowlands. Pressure alone won't be enough this time. I think they need to pick up where the Eagles left off and them some. They need to force Manning into bizarre decisions like trying to "bowl" a football. Basically, you want to turn this into a nasty line battle on both sides of the ball...a battle where Dallas holds the edge in talent (on both lines)...run nasty and rush nasty. That should be the theme today.

If anything, the Dallas defense is going to find out how much it is worth go forward. It's prime time, and with all hands on deck, they have to start putting some paint on the canvas.

You may be right. Yeah, I love sacks and hitting him is better. But he gets rattled with pressure, too. FP and penalties are always in play just like TOs.

I'm very confident we can beat their OL. Their right side esp RT is problematic. If we get some pressure up the middle to go along with what I almost can guarantee from our left end then we will get 4-5 sacks. We may have to blitz some esp if we get into a 3 man line. If they can get pressure with three while containing the run game then they will have a long day. That's assuming we have an offense which isn't guaranteed.

I think Schwartz also has issues at RG when he is isolated. Marinelli will be looking for some games there as well, but they cannot just blindly rush Manning, because he is always looking to climb the pocket and step through...Lawrence allowed Brady to do this a few times. The Eagles were careful to take that away with middle pressure and he looked completely impotent. I agree...I like the d-line vs. their o-line, but I too wonder what the Dallas offense will bring to the party. The windows will not be wide, but Cassel will need to make the throws that Weeden declined.

Good write up except for the bolded part. There is NO EXCUSE not to double Beckham today. Even if he beats Carr somebody better be there. He is their only real threat on offense and their running game is anemic. If he has even a decent game today that's a fail on Marinelli.

The Eagles took him completely out of the offense last week - we should do the same.

if we don't have better qb play than we had with weeden then I don't think it will matter much we have to have better qb play

Wasn't it Mo that shut OBJ down in game 1? Why change that? He obviously has some confidence against the guy so let him run all over the field. I feel like against the ATL we screwed the pooch when they moved Jones all over the field and we didn't have Mo follow him. I hope Mo mans up on OBJ because I think Mos length will give OBJ some problems. The only that concerns me with Mo is OBJ if he gets behind MO I don't think he has the speed to recover so it's important he gets some help over the top. I think Carr can handle Randle with ease

It shouldn't matter if he gets behind him because he should be double teamed anyhow and like you correctly said, Carr can handle Randle.

Beckham having a good game is the only way we get in trouble on defense today.

He should be shadowed but Mo did an outstanding job game 1 against him and with OBJ hobbled I'd let Mo play his game. He's been very good outside of the Pats game and I'd say the pick plays that are illegal really did him in

Grest analysis, but being a pragmatist of sorts, I find the more evidence there is for us winning, the more are our chances of losing. I think they lost last week because they were looking ahead to us. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see this team winning...

PS Do we ever win coming off a bye? Doesn't seem as if we do it very often. We seem to be the only team that gets "rusty" during the bye week...

I think we have a pretty good record after the bye weeks.
