Some random thoughts

Offense:

The offense looked sloppy. Waiting until the last second to snap the ball just kills our rhythm.. Hopefully someday they realize this and we will just get up to the line and run a play.
.

This is the most clear indication to me that we are not as committed to the run as we were last year. This is all about Romo forcing the defense to try and show their hand. I understand it and at times don't have a problem with Romo doing this and trying to take advantage of the defense, 2 min, hurry up, high tempo kind of situations. However, if this is going to become a common theme I fear far more INT's are in Romo's future.

Looked like we couldn't get in a rhythm doing it to me.. Players like Dez basically falling asleep out there.

Between that and all the TV timeouts we had no rhythm most of the game.

First off, good thoughts, overall. I was on a phone earlier, and wasn't typing much.

I don't know. We were dinking and dunking, but I thought the offense looked really good early. The TOs absolutely gutted us. One was a bad pass by Romo. One was on Beasley. The Street hit was textbook Giants-fluke as far as I'm concerned, though, technically, he's got to hold onto that. That Dez drop cost us 4 points.

Had we held onto the ball, though, the game felt to me like one where we were the 30-foot python and were slowly choking the life out of them. We just kept uncoiling ourselves for no good reason and then let them somehow get hold of a machete and come after us.

JJ Wilcox is the MVP. That hit set the tone of the game and completely threw the Giants only real threat off of his game. That was the worst game of his Odell's short career.

I think WR's dropping balls and not holding on to them when they had a catch is what stopped drives and caused lack of rhythm.

Defense- I loved how the defense looked for the most part..

The pass rush didn't get put on display because Eli had the lead and he was just going to snap the ball, take 2 steps back, and release.

We don't really contest receivers for the first few yards so teams will just dink and dunk us all they want if we don't have a lead.

We have to do something about that.

Think Eli was chunking it. Wait to you see Philly. 1 second and throw. I like our chances because pass rush doesnt do much against Philthy anyway

I would love it if they would drop the commercials after ST returns, in other words if the Cowboys return it to the 23, I do not want see a commercial for "X" just get to the game.

Because it wasn't productive and it has stalled drives for years .

When you're in a funk you need to speed up the pace.

Bingo! Look how well we did/do in the 2 minute. Every once in awhile makes a big difference.

I thought we played with fire last night, and we almost got burned. As a matter of fact, we should have been burned. The only time our offense moves with any fluidity, is when we're in hurry up. I thought the defense played pretty good except in the running game. I also don't care for them not pressing up on the running backs.

The special teams will be our downfall

Romo killing the play clock and changing the play/audibling / setting protections/ and getting the hot routes right is why we won the game...

This is one of the worst critiques of this offense anyone could post

Yeah. Becuase thats a sign of all the great offenses throughout history. Running the play clock down to 0. I mean , come on guys, get with it!!!!

to be fair, they seemed to clean that up in the second half.

They wait until the last second because the defense shows what they are going to do. Romo knew time and time again where the blitz was coming from and where he needed blockers. It doesn't bother me one bit.

I agree, if it ain't broke.....

Especially now with Dez out, IMO.

I love that tho..........

Me, too. I'm a little bit torn, because as much as I don't care about RB yardage, I do like the play calling mix having more runs in it. But the idea that we can play screen games behind the ZBS while brining in both backs and TEs who can play outside or inside is pretty fun. That play where we stacked Dunbar behind Dez, for example, was pretty cool. As was that little smoke early in the game to Escobar.
