Some saying Goff will be a bust

Three scouts, none of whose teams need a quarterback, were not very high on Cal's Jared Goff, who several media outlets have ranked as the safest and surest quarterback in this 2016 draft.

"I hope somebody takes him early, ahead of us,'' one NFC scout said. "That would be great, drop a good player to us.

"I'm just not crazy about him, not at all. He doesn't win. Show me a quarterback who didn't win in college, that did well up here? There aren't many. To me he's another Jay Cutler. And you can take that any way you want.''

In three seasons as the starting quarterback for the Cal Bears, Goff went 1-11, 5-7 and 7-5 for a career record of 13-23.

Hopefully we'll oblige and take him off their hands.

"Doesn't win" is a terrible argument, btw, against a kid who did win, and with a bad team around him.

Exactly! I think it's just trying to scare teams from taking him so they can take him for themselves lol.

Failure? I don't give credence to nay sayers that should instead, write television soap operas. Quit posing as a scout.

In mid-March, anonymous scouts saying "I hope someone takes him, so somebody else will fall to us" probably means "I hope no one takes him so he will fall to us."
Always some smoke and mirrors in mid March
But they said they were teams not needing a QB.
Who knows he was referring to though

If he goes to Cleveland it is a foregone conclusion.

If Wentz goes to Cleveland, he would be a bust unless they sit out a year to get their OL fixed. Who ever plays QB for them is going to be running for his life.

Same old same old, every offseason.

Everything scouts say at this point is strategic trash-talk or just plain old nitpicking

Unless they're uncovering some real dirt or medical concerns

"They love him over they but we don't"- brilliant criticism.

Didn't play in a pro style offense but already has the pocket presence. Which most players never develop. I would rather have Wentz if sitting for a couple of years but I think Goff is going to be a good QB in the NFL..

quote....".he doesn't win"............its a bigger consideration with the NFL talent evaluators than most seem to think
