they were 8-5 this yea and won a bowl game. hardly Tim Tebow, but it's not accurate to say he didn't win.

Didn't they beat Air Force? Stop it, right now. Its very accurate to say he didn't win most of the time. I'm sure his career record is below .500. But thats not even why I think he's overrated.

I remeber that Troy Aikman's knock was that he wasn't even the best qb in his conference. Rodney Peete always beat him head to head.

Three scouts, none of whose teams need a quarterback, were not very high on Cal's Jared Goff, who several media outlets have ranked as the safest and surest quarterback in this 2016 draft.

"I hope somebody takes him early, ahead of us,'' one NFC scout said. "That would be great, drop a good player to us.

"I'm just not crazy about him, not at all. He doesn't win. Show me a quarterback who didn't win in college, that did well up here? There aren't many. To me he's another Jay Cutler. And you can take that any way you want.''

In three seasons as the starting quarterback for the Cal Bears, Goff went 1-11, 5-7 and 7-5 for a career record of 13-23.

I been saying this. In December this guy was below Connor cook. After two cupcake games and after the games were played he moved up. Cal has had talent around him too. He just doesn't win and doesn't look good in most games against ranked teams. Another thing I don't think he has a win against a ranked team. I'd take Lynch over both Goff or wentz. Think he's a better talent then both. Only thing that wentz has over lynch is the footwork because he played in a pro set so he's used to it

Care to elaborate?

Did anybody watch a Cal game this year? That team is awful. Goff would hit receivers in stride and right in their hands and they would just flat out drop the ball. And almost as soon as he would take a snap a DL or blitzing LB would be all over him.

They were 8-5 because of Goff. Without him, they are seriously probably a 2 or 3 win team

Just in the last nine years, some 1st round QB's who had good win/loss records in college ~ Tim Tebow, Matt Lineart, Vince Young, Brady Quinn, E.J. Manuel, JaMarcus Russell, Mark Sanchez, Sam Bradford, & Johnny Manziel.

Translation--collegiate win/loss records are a poor indicator of success in the NFL.

Goff checks off all the boxes in the evaluation projection process:
Physical skill set (started 37 out of 37 games), intelligence, mental preparation, leadership qualities, quality arm, excellent footwork/reaction & progression reads, stellar accuracy, set 26 Cal records (including passing yards, TD passes, and completions) and was a two-time team captain at California.

Essentially, it is up to his NFL coaching staff and his surrounding teammates at the NFL level, that will ultimately impact his true success at the next level.
But, individually he has all the initial ingredients and intangibles that a quality draftable player exhibits, and whereby a franchise would value him as their starter QB for the next 10 years.

Jerry would be foolish in avoiding drafting this player.

there should be a rule that you can't post anything with anonymous sources! If they have the guts to say it, they should not have a problem putting their name to it.

The #1 characteristic that Dallas looks for in a QB is his ability to look/throw downfield when the play breaks down. The ability to improvise, keep a play alive, re-set, and throw downfield is the quality of Romo that Dallas now looks for in QBs. That's why we're enamored with Dak Prescott, and Manziel, IMO. The biggest knock against Goff is he's so mechanical that he can't handle a muddy pocket. As long as the pocket is clean, he's razor sharp. But, when things break down he struggles and can't improvise. No way Dallas chooses Goff. Now, Lynch on the other hand, can slide, scramble, and improvise while throwing at different angles accurately and with velocity. He's the type of QB that Dallas would like.

let me get this straight.we are rejecting a Qb who is the best in the class from the class in the pocket and has the best pocket awareness and are looking for a guy who can "get things done when the pocket breaks down " but who is not great in the pocket ,Its a shame we have the best oline then .

The description you're replying to doesn't fit Goff anyways. Goff does exactly what he was saying he doesn't do as good as any QB I've seen recently. He lived inside of a "muddy pocket" for 3 years and looked damn good making plays from it.
