simply put, the d-line and LBs don't get pressure on 3rd downs in obvious passing situations.. it's not from lack of effort, the talent just isn't there collectively to get to the QB

also, I HATE the way we blitz. Corner blitzes, safety blitzes, zone blitzes, it does not matter, we never get home to the QB. Either Marinelli is too predictable in his tendencies, the schemes are flawed in some way, or our players consistently do not execute them very well in regards to disguise and assignment. (more than likely a combination of all 3)

Really? I actually think Marinelli has used the blitz better than I've seen here in years.

It was a great win, but let's be blunt:

  • The Cowboys had a nearly flawless four-TD performance from Romo and got 121 yards rushing from Murray, yet still only barely escaped with a win against an opponent that was 3-7.
  • New York dominated the time of possession, roughly 35 minutes to roughly 25 minutes for Dallas.
  • Eli Manning ripped the Cowboys' defense apart as usual for 338 yards and three TDs. If he had seen a wide-open Beckham downfield late in the game, it might have been 400+ yards and four TDs. You don't want to take this into the playoffs.
  • Eli completed 72.5% of his pass attempts.
  • New York's offense was 11 of 16 on third downs.

Sanchez isn't much better than Eli, but the Eagles overall are a much more formidable opponent.

Division foes are almost always challenging for us to beat no matter what their record is, so I don't consider the Eagles to be a more formidable foe from that standpoint.

I don't think Sunday's game is indicative of how the next one will go, just a typical Giants-Cowboys rivalry game.

absolutely. again, i think it mainly has to do with lack of talent and not so much Marinelli, but the possibility of his tendencies / schemes being easy to counter should definitely come into play

I know the pass rush needs to be fixed, however, it's not like they can perform magic and make it happen.

I am absolutely stunned at how well the Cowboys are doing this season -- far beyond my expectations. Having said that I'm greedy by nature and am already thinking ahead to playoffs and yes even the Superbowl. I believe the biggest obstacle to the Superbowl will be the team's inability to mount any sort of consistent pass rush.

Yes, the Cowboys can beat the Packers and even the Patriots (if it came to that -- which I hope it does) without a pass rush, but it will it will require near perfect play from the others aspects of the team.

If the Cowboys had a pass rush, I'd favor them to win it all (yes, ALL).
