Some thoughts on the SD game and what it means to this team

Watching that game showed me for certain (yeah it's taken a lot for me) what we'd look like with the right coaching. SD does not have that much better talent than we do. I'd give them the nod by a little. Their WRs are across the board better than ours. I think Austin will be as good as any they have in time but they're just a bit better. I'd put the rest of the offensive talent about the same. Speaking in generalities here and not debating Romo vs Rivers. Talent wise they are close.

That offense is what ours should look like and isn't. And I lay that right at the feet of Garrett. It normally should be the HC then the OC but Wade is obviously not involved with the offense.

Even the defense fails in comparison. Are they about equal? Yes. Close. But we are inferior in making big stops and on third downs. I lay that at the feet of Wade and a fair amount at Campo's. And a smaller amount on the LBs particularly the inside LBs. The middle of the field underneath is their property and they sucked it up yesterday and do so way too often in general.

I don't do the knee jerk either. This is not a thread based on the one loss yesterday. This is from the season's work the way I see it. I'm not here daily dissing management, the coaches or the players. I've just finally seen enough.

We just don't measure up to the good teams and the reason has to do more with coaching and playcalling than it does with talent. I'm not the only one that sees a fair amount of talent on this team. And yes talent and execution is in the equation. It's just not the main problem. Even if you want to blame it all on execution, I don't see how you can avoid blaming the architects of the defense and offense. Bench some of them if execution is THE problem.

Time to blow up the coaching regime on this team and start with a new slate. As painful as that seems its the right thing to do.

Having said all that I still haven't given up hope for this year. This team has some talent. Particularly at QB the most important position. He just needs a little more help from all around. So I'll still be looking for a playoff berth and keeping the candle lit that we can make a run. Too bad it's uphill.

mike lombardi said today on the nfl network that keith brooking was so upset with the lack of emotion in practice this past week that he was going to start a fight to get guys going.

that tells us all we need to know.

there is a large case of fat cat itus out there. A disciplinarian is needed desperately. Jobs need to be threatened.

unfortunately I can not see anyway jerry allows a guy like that in his building again.

I hope they can pick it up.

Ding, Ding. BEcause we saw the coaches who didn't do much in Dallas succeed mightly elsewhere. All the GROZ folks will have to admit that much. Zimmer commented when in Atlanta to the fact that our DBs didn't take to coaching that much ( he said he likes the fact that Atlanta DBs stick to fundamentals and technique that he teaches them and not free lance).

Most jobs need to be threatened. A good number need to be lost, period. We are talking big names need to be cut from this team. Jerry does not have the intestinal fortitude to do what needs to be done or to let some one else do it. I don't see much hope for the rest of the year, too many tools just happy to talk the talk, go throw the motions and get a pay check. I actually don't so much hope for the for see-able future either for this team. This stuff will likely continue on and on and on.

What! Theebs you should start a thread about this, you'll get a thousand hits. I can't believe this team is so numb to the emotional side of football.

no thanks.

When dc comes back he can put it up or you can get it on his blog.

Or as I suspect, it will be a story on the ticket and dmn tomorrow.

Interesting.

I wonder if Keith Brooking was the one that sent the text message last week about the same old same old from Wade Phillips after the Giants game?

Keith Brooking has probably arrived at the same conclusions Zach Thomas eventually did, which is this team is devoid of leadership, accountability and never plays with a sense of urgency.

I was looking at video of Tony Dungy on DC's blog and like that video, one thing I have notice, Tony Dungy seems to always say that he doesn't think this team ever plays with a sense of urgency.

I heard Mike Golic on GAC earlier today say the same thing.

I just wonder why the Cowboys are like this?

don't wonder. Its right there in front of our faces.

Big contracts and no worries of losing playing time. That comes from you know who and it is a hurdle we wont get over.

Think about it. All the high draft picks and big contracts are on the defense, all those guys have been paid. Fat cats all over.

you can watch games and listen to interviews and it is not hard to see who the self motivated players are.....ware, ratliff, brooking, romo, witten, austin.

it is the only possible solution to the problem, outside of they are just not good enough, which could definitely be the answer.

this team hasnt played with their hair on fire since the packers game in 07. For whatever reason, I guess we all have a theory, I am sure we are all part right and part wrong.

I agree, Jerry Jones is likely the main culprit here.

Sad, the guy loves the Cowboys but he just doesn't seem to be able to get out of his own way.

Gawd it is going to be miserable if the Cowboys miss the Playoffs yet again :bang2: :bang2: .

Maybe my frustration is billowing over and clouding my judgment, but I would absolutely love it if the fans at Cowboys Stadium would direct a few chants at Jerry on game day.

They wouldn't need to be anything complicated, perhaps just "New GM!" or "Sell the team!"

If the last game is anything like last year's last game you will probably get your wish.

trust me, they dont have it in them.

Chants, cheering, paying attention, giving a damn in general.

that is few and far between.

it is all about food, alchol and watching the big tv.

Can't imagine that, if it didn't happen in the late 90's, it won't happen for a while. I was in TX Stadium for a game back then when we were pathetic, but everybody seemed pretty complacent and happy to be buying discounted souvenirs.

If Brookings were going to start a fight to get guys going, he shouldn't have said ANYTHING to a reporter....

Who on the team will take the fight seriously now that it is pre-planned....

Nah, Wade Phillips will be the sacrificial lamb, much like Brian Stewart was last year.

We will get a new coach in here and you will hear about how things are going to be different blah blah blah.

I don't care what anybody says, if Jason Garrett becomes Head Coach, then we will get more of the same.

We need someone in here that can keep Jerry Jones at arms length.
