The downside with Cordarelle Patterson is that he does not return Punts. He only returns Kickoffs. That keeps him from being a direct replacement for Lucky.

I expect Claiborne to sign another 1 year deal.

If Ware didn't have injury issues this year, then I could see a better chance of him returning as a pass rush specialist.

Terrelle Pryor is my pet cat free agent (6-5, 232, 4.38 forty). This was his first full year as a WR and he looked decent in the games I reviewed. His upside is exciting. I don't think he has proven enough to get huge money, but who knows. I think he would be really good in the Cowboys offense, but it might be hard to make him the #2 WR from day one because they like a refined route runner to go with Dez and his erratic route running. I've heard some claims that he might have attitude issues but I have not seen anything concrete on that.

IMO: Terrelle Pryor >>> Cordarelle Patterson

Maybe a consideration of Robert Woods of the Bills... He's not going to resign with Buffalo.

My feeling is that they re-sign both Carr and Claiborne. I would prefer they use the money on 1 top CB, but they seem to like Carr's leadership and ability to stay healthy.

Church is another player the coaches seem to like more than the fans. Wilcox might get an offer somewhere that is too much to match. Some team will see his physical ability and think they can get more out of him than the Cowboys have gotten from him.

TWill could be expensive. Some team might look more at his highlights and overlook his shortcomings. No idea on Butler. He won't get any significant offers, IMO.

Jarvis Jones: Pre-draft, 6-2, 245, 4.88 forty, slow 3-cone and shuttle, poor vert (i.e. Small and slow)
Cordarelle Patterson: Top Kick returner but does not return Punts. Same number of catches in 2016 as TWill had in 2015 but Patterson had half the yards. Known to struggle learning the scheme.

Barkavious Mingo: He is playing as a 4-3 LB with the Patriots. He has been active all season with zero starts.
Dre Kirkpatrick: Solid CB. One report expects him to get 10M per. If they are going to pay 10M per, I hope they look at Trumaine Johnson if he is only a couple of million more than Kirkpatrick.

Romo: Anything could happen with him. It would be great to get a premium pick for him. I don't know for certain if he will want to continue playing.

Adoree Jackson: It will be interesting to see where he checks in height wise. He is around 5-10 to 5-11. The Cowboys seem to want CBs to be over 5-11.
Dawaune Smoot: He gets into the backfield often but tends to miss a lot of tackles on QBs and RBs. Some say he struggles against the run but he looked OK taking on blockers to me. He makes me thinks of some guys that have been 2nd round picks in previous years, but I guess the Cowboys 1st round pick is almost a 2nd rounder.

There should be less focus on QB and RB in the pre-draft visits as compared to last year. Look at last year, they appeared to be interesting in WRs to some extent. I think they could end up taking a WR in the 1st.

-I think we will bring back either Carr or Claiborne. Most likely Claiborne as he will only get a 1 year deal.

-I think we will bring Wilcox back and let Church walk. Wilcox looks like a 2 or 3 year deal guy right now.

- Williams is 50/50 IMO. There is a possibility a team will over pay him. If so, he will walk. I dont see Butler back.

- 3 names to remember during FA Jarvis Jones, Cordarelle Patterson and Barkavious Mingo. Failed first rounders Dallas may kick the tires on. I could see one or two of the three in camp next season. I think Patterson would be the only one that makes it out of camp a Dallas Cowboy

- A larger signing then normal could occur. Nothing like Oliver, but I could see Dre Kirkpatrick or Jabaal Sheard.

-I think we will get a day 2 pick for Romo. Im banking on a 3rd, but a 2nd is possible IMO

Great post, I agree with everything but think a few things could play out differently. I do think Romo brings back a better draft pick than most of this forum thinks.

I think Claiborne definitely comes back and Carr likely does, but its such a passing league now that some other team may offer him more than Dallas. All things being equal I think he returns - and that Dallas drafts a CB high no matter what. Another scenario could be Dallas signing a FS and moving Jones back to CB.

I do TWill is gone for sure and that is the big upgrade we make in FA or possibly the draft.

I was thinking Church would leave and we upgrade that position, but now I'm leaning toward him being resigned. He isn't a playmaker but fills his role well when Byron Jones is at FS.

The idea of getting a 2nd round pick and then packaging it to move up in the top ten is fun to think about, there could be a great talent added to the team that way.

My thing about this offseason is that we have no glaring holes (though I think we upgrade #2 WR for sure) but we will have a ton of cap space available and we will likely have extra draft picks available.

Plus the biggest improvement to most teams is the normal improvement that 2nd and 3rd year players make. We have a lot of those kind of possibilities like Jaylon Smith, Anthony Brown, David Irving, Malik Collins, Chaz Green, Nzeocha, Tapper, Frazier, Rico Gathers, and Andy Jones,

I think we have 1 glaring hole and 2 of Williams leaves. RDE. If we can get a good pick for Romo, that asset may be best used to move up into the draft and get a true RDE. May not pay dividends in 2017, but its something this team needs going forward

- I think our predraft visits will stack 1st round DEs, 1st round CBs, and 1st round WR with some rando's. This could be a year we take one of those rando's (Martin, Zach). 2nd round prospects I think you will see a stack of TE's and more DE, WR, CB. 3rd to 5th, I think you will see more OT's, LBs and Safeties.

-If im correct in my Romo trade, you could see a trade up for a coveted DE. Adding another day 2 pick would give them the ammo needed to movr and not compromise the rest of the draft. However, I don't think they would do that for any other position.

- Two names to remember for the draft. Adoree Jackson, Dawaune Smoot. They love elite athletes at the CB position and Smoot is scheme fot at RDE and Marinelli has alot of ties to the Illini staff. They can get more info on Smoot then any other DE in the class

Good post

Keep Romo or trade him for a first . Anything less would be moronic. He is too valuable for us to trade away for less.

We have gaping holes at RDE, DT and MLB
Need to fill these via FA or draft

Resign Mo to incentive laden deal
No long term contract

At WR we need an outside WR with speed who can run consistent routes

We NEED to actually pay attention to STs and get a real PR/KR

Fwiw, even if we move on from Romo, we won't be able to be big spenders until the following offseason

We save five million in cap space if we move Romo. Any big fa deal is always structured for larger cap hits at the end of the deal.

Please explain how this is going to keep us from a big signing this year.

I'm in the minority but I think we could go another year with the same group at DE assuming DLaw is healthy. I think either Irving or TCrawford will establish themselves at LDE next year with Tapper probably getting most of his snaps at that position.

At RDE (assuming DLaw is healthy) we would be OK with him starting and Mayowa backing him up. DLaw has played well when he was healthy, even if he doesn't have big stats this year.

Adding a top ten pick at that position would be awesome, but I think its an upgrade spot rather than a glaring hole.

One of the things you have to remember is DLaw is entering a walk year. And year, its too hard to tell what kind of value he really has

I believe Carr will be back, maybe Mo as well but definitely Carr.

He truly is a RKOG. We could've cut him 3 years ago but here he is. He is also a very reliable, solid player. People like to pile on him because he didn't live up to his contract but he is much better than most corners we have had back there in the last 15 years.

Cordarelle Patterson will get more money than we are willing to offer.
You would be surprised the book on him is he is you need to line him up on your sideline so the coaches can yell to him what to do. In other words he is football dumb as it pertains to offense.
