Somebody has to mention it, is N.O. a trap game?

It's a clíché, but tradition here mandates we discuss the "trap game" every time our Boys play an inferior team.
How about it, handsome but strange men?
So, let us all get mussed up and fussy about the mighty saints!

Holla and brings me a dollah!

Beware Kamara.
N.O. allowed Carolina only 10 pts.
Carr passed for 200 yards (average chap)
Any given Sunday.

Not a trap game, just a game all the fans were circling and hoping/praying it would be an automatic W when they looked at the first 7 games of the season.

Are we really certain the Cowboys are this much better than NO?

I’m holding my breath, hope I’m wrong, but I saw nothing encouraging with this offense in the second half of last game.

We still need to prove we can pound the ball with our awful RB lineup. IMO

Too early in the year for traps.

Everyone is still bringing it this time of year.

If we lose we lose but it’s not a trap game.

I like this game because they will show us a lot of looks that the 9ers will use.
Are you kidding? Week one was our Super Bowl to wash out the butt taste out of our mouth from the playoff loss. This week....we drink from the toilet. Prescott has had a week to binge on that new contract. I fully expect him to come out looking fat....and can barely move.

Saints have had a week to digest how bad Watson was.....and he was God awful....but he did have numerous guys open. Something tells me Carr won't panic nearly as bad......and will find that #21 on many occasions.

This is gonna be an ugly game.....Fully expect a flag fest.....of just dumb things....Only this team can manage to concoct.

You will get a fake punt.....after our offense stalls the first 3 drives.....
Wouldn't surprise me it's 13-6 @ the half......Saints up....and they get the ball to start the 3rd.....
2 bombs from our kicker is the only thing keeping this offensive juggernaut from being shut out.
Yet some how....Our defense does what it does......Recovers a fumble for a score.....we play not to lose in a 13-13 nailbitter....Only to have our best offensive player....Our kicker save the day with his 3rd...60+ bomb for the walk off win....we clearly don't deserve.

Jerry is so impressed with our winning attitude....he extents Elliott 3 years for his tough inside running....on 8 carries for 26 yards.

Brandon Cooks is upset he couldn't stick it to the team that drafted him.....Getting 0 catches on 7 pathetic Prescott overthrows.

Parson goes on X and threatens to play RB so he can get paid too.....

McCarthy orders hot wings @ halftime....and sticks the kicker with the bill.

 And that Folks is week 2......Only 16 more to go.

I imagine Saints fans are asking themselves the same question about the Cowboys.

It's way too early in the season to refer to any team as "inferior", especially when they won their first game 47 to 10.

The good and bad teams of the NFL do not really start to define themselves until week 4 or 5 when all teams have played multiple teams where you can better rate the qualities of each teams' wins and losses.

For example, if the Browns go 0-17, then that win by the Cowboys means very little. If the Browns end up winning their division then that game means a lot. The same is true for the Panthers and the Saints game.

All that matters is that every win early in the season (ugly or not does not matter) can help lessen the impact of losses later in the season.
It's true, but we do it anyways. We aren't completely in the dark though. Last seasons record and the teams roster give us a decent foundation to prognosticate. Cleveland is too good defensively to be terrible, BUT Watson is a real wild card. Despite going 5-1 last year he might really be done. I also think Carolina has a pretty solid body of work as a very bad team. Young and the team may improve over the season, but as of now they are one of the leagues worst. We aren't flying completely blind.

Now, with all that said it's much more difficult to predict how good or bad a team like the Saints will be.

In any event this game is not one I would take for granted. Typically this team loves to get me excited and then pull the heart out of my chest. I haven't forgotten that.

NO is a good team w/ a good QB. They were 9-8 last year, a very competent team. Not a trap game, just a game that is going to be tough and we could lose.
That's fair. It's only a "trap game" because we are pompous as hell. The fan base goes from world class sucking to no way we lose after a single game.

The problem is our players love to eat the cheese as well.

What in blue blazes gives this the slightest indication of being a “trap” game? They could steamroll us.
Yup, a trap game indicates a game we are expected to win. This game is a toss up.

I guess the term "trap game" has totally lost all meaning.
I find that a surprising number of fans don't understand NFL/sports terms. In the overrated/underrated threads, many didn't understand what overrated/underrated means. Strange stuff.

If we lose this one a sub .500 record is guaranteed
Trap or not.
However we had weeks to install plays and defend the Browns they had no tape on our defense.
This is a Inferior unit to the Browns so winning is all about us.
W/ a much superior QB. Changes everything.

Agree.....I would point out the Bengals- Patriots game as well

Too early to be definitive
