Theres a reason they arent drafting any DB's yet(Besides that they mostly suck). They have a free agent or two lined up. Barber, Davis, Colombo etc. need to go to create that room.

You really think they keep Barber over Choice?? I like Barber, but he doesn't play special teams and is getting hurt every other game. He is pretty much dead weight right now. That is a roster spot that could go for a ST player on game day.

Barber is done in Dallas (will be cut)... They'll probably try to trade Choice.

I think it IS a replacement draft and I think both Barber and Choice are out. I don't think Lonyae Miller should inherit even the RB3 slot, so I wouldn't be shocked to see another RB taken. At a minimum, I bet they target pre-draft visitor Phillip Tanner from Middle Tenn as a PFA.

Bennett is an enigma (and a mouth) and Phillips is coming off serious injury. Hoping we take a TE late also.

First off, Barber is the best pass protector of the bunch. Like it or not, this is one of the duties of being a running back. It's not all just run run run. You have to be able to pick up the blitz and Barber excels at it. Choice, Jones and Murray are no where near the pass protector that Barber is. I agree that he needs to produce more, but I also know that poor o-line play hurt the production of all 3 running backs last year.

The other thing with Barber is that if he is cut, we still have to pay his salary, which is a lot higher than that of Choice. No one wants to acquire Barber in a trade from us because then they will have to pick up his salary. Choice is more apt to be traded because of his low salary.
Jerry screwed himself by paying Barber as much as he did and I'm afraid he's stuck right now because of it.

Edit: Just saw this and need to amend my thinking....saving $4 million is significant. It will be interesting to see what JJ decides to do. Dead money is still a concern with cutting Barber, R Williams, Leonard & Newman. It's not an easy decision.

The Cowboys have not made decisions regarding several players who are due roster bonuses, such as Marion Barber, who is due $500,000 in June. The Cowboys save $4 million against the salary cap if they cut Barber, their starting running back since 2008, in June. But if they cut him now, they only save around $750,000.


And finally, I'm a big proponent of Lonyae Miller, but it appears that he will be relegated to practice squad yet again this year.
