For Newman, I'm pretty sure the 2008 season was viodable by the team, and the 2009 season was voidable by Newman.

don't forget Flo

And Flo too, I was just going off that list. Though I still don't know what we do there. I think he might be facing the franchise tag again.

I'm pretty sure that if it was voidable next season, you would be hearing quite a bit more talk about extending him.

No doubt you would hear about it.

And as far as structuring a contract goes, why would a GM ever give a player the chance to option out prior to their last year but not in the last year.

I heard that more than a few times at the Cowboys-forum.

Leftwich, Suggs and Newman. MANY wanted Suggs.

I said at that time I would be happy with any of those three, however will admit I was pulling for Leftwich as he played at Marshall.

Seems like we got the best of the bunch.

Newman contract is not voidable next year. We have been over this maybe 500 times this year. Anyone who reports it should be kicked in the ****s!

So since we all know that Newman's contract is voidable next year, who should we go after as a top tier FA cornerback?

Because Newman signed a 7 year deal IIRC. That's not a typical contract term for a rookie in the NFL. He probably insisted on it so he wouldn't be playing on that contract for that long without some element of control. He probably also insisted on the auto void when he played so many games.

Is this happening today or what? I'm on the East coast and I want to go to sleep knowing we signed Flo long term. :)

I remember watching that bowl game with K State and AZ State and thinking i'd be thrilled with either player, and both played really well.

Back then i was foolish enough to think we had our QB:rolleyes: :bang2:

I thought about Leftwich but was onboard with Newman as the best pick there....
