I did a little research and it appears that only one computer can be connected to the device at one time.

Out of curiosity and legalities aside, what would it take to set something up where a person could brodcast live tv over the internet?

Did I say $10 per GAME? Nope. I meant $10 and that's it. Besides that, I was joking. Even if I did mean $10 per game, last time I checked that was cheaper than Sunday Ticket.

 Right back at ya.

My bad then. I thought you meant 10 per game. Still it's a great deal. They will split the payments for you if you want.

1. NFL Sunday Ticket
2. A TV Tuner Card
3. Broadcasting Software
4. Bandwidth

My solution is sports bars. Its almost more fun than watching from your couch. you get the Boys fans out there, other teams fans, get a good fake ID and ur set for the day.

That's what Kilyin and I do, but I hate even thinking about how much cash we spend on that...it's way more than Sunday Ticket! :p

We're actually talking about doing Sunday Ticket next season. We'd save a boatload of money, for sure.

Upload bandwidth is the key to this whole operation. If you have low upload bandwidth, then you're not going to be able to stream the game to many people. I stream my tv to my work and watch tv there but the screen size is tiny. I could max out my upload bandwidth to get a decent size though but you could only go to 1 person. But for each person you stream to, you will have to lower the quality of your stream. I only have 386kbps uplaod ( or about that) so thats 40k'ish/sec. Then you'd need to lower that to say 30k/sec so you dont kill your download bandwidth (affects cable, not sure about dsl, t-1 etc...). So if you have 30k/sec of upload bandwidth, and 4 people....that's 7-8k/sec upload per person. So you'll have to lower your stream picture size to like 240x180 and 15fps or to whatever = 8K or 64kbps. This is what i use while at work...the sound is great and the tv qualit is ok, good enough to watch but not sure about watching football at this size. I tried streaming a game before and had it where I could get a decent, but small size going to like 3 people max. If you have 1mbps upload or more, then you can do alot more damage :)

I have an ati aiw and have had nothing but troubles with the tv tuner and doing streaming video. I'm going to get an external tv tuner and a normal video card and see if I can get better results. Hopefully time warner/RR will increase the upload bandwidth sometime in the near future too.

Thats true. Only one person can connect to a slingbox at a time.

You can stream it over the net. Its highly illegal. You'd need a broadband connection with pretty high upload speeds and a decent server to host it.

DirecTV, for all the issues I have with them, is the way to go. Repeat customers only pay $199 if you sign up early. Not only do you get the game, but you can watch any other game you want. Way better than a sports bar in my opinion and way cheaper in the long run in most cases.

How much bandwith are we talking about?
Depends on how mnay you broadcast too.

Check www.videolan.com. If that is still around it worked quite well.

In the near future we will use a pc to broadcast things all over the house. Much cheaper and efficient than 4 or 5 seperate tuner boxes.

Here is a partial screen of the bandwidth I've got.

I'm getting 712 up ( supposed to be 768), and I get broadcast to about 3 people with good quality video and audio.

I agree the sports bar is always a good call, I like being able to get a good lunch while in college and watch the days football action. But as soon as i'm done with college i'll definately be getting Direct TV and sunday ticket and college gameday so i can watch my Hokies and Cowboys!
