Something everyone needs to remember...

Great idea! Ryan’s scheme is only 3 playbooks. Light afternoon reading. Should be a blast watching AOA and the rookies get burned all preseason long. This should be fun.

Middle ground folks. As he clarified, not the recommended strategy, but sometimes contributors are found in final cut downs. Odds are NOT good though.

Oh well using that logic, we might as well forget signing any more defensive free agents. I mean training camp already started, it's really too late now.

I am all for picking up players at any point during the preseason or regular season. But i completely disagree with regards to the safety position. We need two proven guys right now. The secondary needs time to gel together. I think this hurts what Ryan is trying to do. Hell, Rob was just talking to Elam on the phone trying to get him to come here. He needs him and knows it.

I think we will sign at least one veteran safety if not two long before final cuts.

so how many good players have the Cowboys gotten from other team's final cuts through the years? I'm sure there's been some but I can't think of any.

I was not in any way suggesting we purposely wait until then, but do you really want to commit a huge contract to a below average free agent safety that is available now only to see a solid free agent safety get released later in the pre-season?

At some point, you have to look at your roster and see that what you have is not much worse than what is out there now and feel it is worth the risk to wait.

Jerry is a smart GM for waiting on the Safety market for the reason you mentioned (bolded above).

Jerry is a dumb GM for letting the quality of our Safety corps come down to this level of marginal talent (underlined above).

I don't know if the OP meant that this is the strategy to go into but more of a "hey we didn't get our guy but we may get somone servicable for a cheaper rate". Anyone coming out at the opening is receiving long term/big money contracts, which we really cant afford to throw all the money to one guy. Anyone coming out afterwards will be looking for a home, will settle for less and quite possibly be hungrier/spiteful.

Some players indeed get cut mid-late preseason that are worth picking up and solid contributors. Those players fit certain teams schemes better and are used to fit that scheme.

Are the Commanders nation so afraid of the eagles as Cowboy nation is?

:laugh2:

Dude, they are the "Dream Team".

Seems like that's all they do in Philly is dream.

If they kick the Cowboy's butt, what do you think your Commanders do?
:laugh2:

What you think? Can the Commanders beat the "Dream Team"?

Commanders nation is not afraid, but there are certain chicken littles that are. Even one that posts here.

Not really afraid of the Cowboys either.
