Something I have noticed about the OL

We have not heard anything about Martin taking any snaps at center. This pretty much locks Bernadeau into active OL on game days leaving the loser of the Leary/Collins competition inactive.

He is getting snaps at C. I specifically remember reading that blurb.

I do think that whoever loses between Collins and Leary will be inactive.

Bern is a good player. He's active.

I think if Collins doesn't take RT that he's inactive but starts at either slot over Weems/Bern if we know a guy is out.

We won't take 8 OL?

I think Collins will be the lead blocker for Randle, and will step up in pass pro from the FB position. Kind of joking here, but it wouldn't mind seeing him line up there either.

Jerry and Co talking Collins into signing here then make him inactive? I don't envision that playing out..........

I'm sure La'el is realizes he has to earn his way onto the field,,, I would hate to see the team coddle him, it would send the wrong message.

Oh, I agree for sure. My stance was that the kid had his choice to go anywhere and he chose Dallas with that OL already in place. I would bet that he makes the active roster, starting or not, an under the table kind of thing.

I wouldn't like to be a top talent with my choice only to be made inactive on gamedays. He could have gone to many other teams and probably started. This all hinges around his talent though, won't apply if he totally sucks.

JMO of course :)

I don't see Collins or Leary being inactive. Dallas will keep 8 offensive lineman active.

I am afraid that Collins is not ready for primetiime just yet, I think next year is when he will flourish.

You have five starters and a swing tackle. Then you must have a backup C. If that player is a G/C then great. If the backup C can't play G then you need a backup there, too. Which is why they like versatile players. I'm not certain we have another G/C beside Bernie so that gives him a one up. Maybe someone can fill that role.

My guess it will be Smith, Leary, Fred, Martin and Free with Weems the backup. Bernie will be the backup G and C. If players are dinged up enough then they may have to go long on game day.

I'd love to see him earn the playing time at tackle and surprise everybody with greatness,,, we need a tackle!

If Collins doesn't win a starting spot right away, I wouldn't mind if they used him in certain situations as a blocking TE for two or three TE sets.

Put him next to Smith... they'd get some movement up front.

Also, if he doesn't win a starting spot by game 1... that doesn't mean that he can't start later on. I have seen rookies not start playing until about half way through the season when they have their feet under them enough.

Collins will be active. Will be on the FG and PAT unit and used in short yardage. Just can't see him being inactive

The season might start out that way. We get the bye after the Pats and by then he might be ready. Remember he is still a rookie.
