Watch McCoy who is a real pass rusher and his feet in this drill, then watch Jernigan's feet. Just one skill but it is amazing how much better McCoy's feet are, even compared to Ealy.

It is the first drill @35 seconds in.

Funny thing is, he should look up and not down. All he does is looking at his feet.

It difficult to know how much is a learned skill of doing the drills vs physical ability.

Good vid. I am more impressed with Jernigan - so was Mooch at 1: 35 or so. I think of all the possible upgrades to the defense, Jernigan over Hayden is the widest gap of improvement.

Clinton-Dix over any safety is pretty up there. I actually heard one of the DC.com people say that Church should have gotten pro bowl consideration. We certainly like to overrate our players and see competence as superlative.

Not sure if sarcastic or not. I am not saying Jernigan is a bad prospect, he could make a great 1 tech in a 4-3, but the dude is not a pass rusher. If anything the one thing that shocks me is how amazing McCoy's balance and feet are, it is nearly as good as a RB or WR's.

On the second drill, where they simulate the dip and rip move you can see what Jernigan does when a guy tries to get his hands on him. He has the best hands -and that includes brute arm strength in the equation- that I have seen in a long time. He has been termed by some as country strong and I see it.

I think people are making a mistake if they sleep on Jernigan in the 1st. I admit that he isn't as good as I originally thought gearing up for the draft but the more I see of him, the more i see a coachable young man that has really good power in his upper body. Did you see Mcginest? He wasn't ready for Jernigan's punch at all. It was kinda cool really.

You were watching McCoy do a drill that he has been doing in practice for years and comparing him to a guy that is being shown the drill for the first time. It should be obvious that he had no experience with it. That is why they talk about the importance of repetition.

I noticed that as well... His hands are always moving and ripping.

That is what makes him great. Most guys have to use their quickness to beat the OL from getting their hands on them. Jernigan doesnt care. He will win the handfight get on your shoulder and turn you despite an OL's best effort. He saw a lot of quality guards and it did not matter.

I like Tim. I'll admit I don't see a lot of video's on anybody just reading and listening to the "experts".
If Donald and Barr are gone I would settle for Jernigann.
I can hear the moans, I am position focused not the best view I realize but this draft I am making an exception.
Really I rather trade up for Donald then Barr.
More moans.

I also came away impressed with Jernigan. His power is insane. And when I see him in a drill like this, I see a real football player; strong, high effort; coachable; tough.

Compared to Barr and Ealy especially, I see a guy more likely to excel in the pros due to his intangibles.

I've warmed to Jernigan. I agree that he's not a pass rushing difference maker at DT, and he pretty much is "just" a 1T... but he's a perfect 1T in that he's got all the power/stoutness you want combined with more athleticism than your typical 1T.

I'd be relatively unexcited but OK with him at 16, but it seems possible to trade down and still score him. Imagine turning #16 into Jernigan + a 3rd? All roads pretty much lead back to me wanting a trade down to be honest.
