With the recent news that Dallas tried to sign Sammy Watkins..

and failed..

WR obviously is a top priority for us.

This is a clear intimation DEZ is going to be cut.

What do you guys think?

I disagree. They may have thought about it when Watkins was available, but that's no longer the case.

So, at this point, there are few, if any, options to replace Bryant.

If the plan was to replace him, that ship has sailed.

We swung our “hardest” for watkins. (16M per yr) guaranteed money struck us out.

now we must keep Dez imo

We were talking to a lot of WRs at the combine so it doesn’t surprise me.

Dallas has to get someone that can rip the sideline with speed and I think they know that.

I'd love to get excited about some new blood at WR and TE. But unfortunately, it's not in the cards.

This team will roll with what we've got. Dez, Twill, Bease, Witten. Our game plan appears to count on Garrett and co to come up with some brilliant new ideas.

Sorry.

Why would you think signing Watkins was to intimidate Dez? I am wondering why Watkins would be seen as someone to replace Dez.

Dez does command double coverage a lot of times I would think we need a WR to counter that not replace it.

Not necessarily.

I think WR in the draft is in play.

Ridley becomes an obvious choice.

If he drops as expected..

the Ravens appear to want him..

so we need to trade up before them.

We have the trade ammo to do this.

The failure to acquire Watkins or any of the other "top" receivers out there means that Dez is not in danger of being cut, at least not until after the draft.

This is good news because replacing Bryant with Watkins would not have been an upgrade.

I never once thought acquiring a receiver was about Dez's exit. I think it would more about them having to get better at receiver because just getting rid of Dez and signing Sammy Watkins wasn't going to cut it. Not only that but Sammy Watkins is not even better than a bad Dez. Sammy Watkins got a big deal based on his draft status and what everyone hopes he become. He has not sniffed his potential and its gotten to the point where its probably safe to say he never will.

Looks to me they are done with Dez's sidebar issues.

Thank goodness..

Sounds like you have your own answer to the question before you asked it. Again, I'll respectfully disagree.

This team would be taking a huge step backwards replacing Bryant with any rookie. Given the makeup of the rest of the team, and it's coaches, I don't see them wanting to do that.

If you wanted to cut Bryant and replace him with what you felt was a comparable player? Ok, but a rookie receiver is not that. The team would be going backwards.
