Something isn't right

I have been reluctant to join the Dak bandwagon because he certainly has his passing flaws and QB mechanics. Most of us who evaluate him game by game don't really see a Rogers, Brees, or Brady on the horizon or in our future. That may be harsh but, we are going on 25 years without sniffing a championship and the cows are restless and ready to stampede. I hope Dak can improve enough to be very functional and with this collection of players, make a decent run. As long as we have this current coaching regime, I don't see us as a valid contender. Sorry guys!

you right its hardly fair but your honest

Best Dak Prescott statistic from 2017:

Completion percentage to Dez Bryant: 51 percent.
Completion percentage to every player not named Dez Bryant: 69 percent.

I'm far from a football expert, but I think the problem with Dak wasn't Dak last year. (Now I'm ducking and getting out of here!;))

Please tell me you’re joking and trying to make a point.

In that play he overthrows his dump off target(Zeke) and they catch it.

What was so dumb? Pretty sure I’ve seen other qb’s make that mistake. Like a lot.

The other one Dez dropped.

Help me understand exactly what is so dumb.

Each one of those plays was a panick move. Like he didn't know what to do w/ the football. That speaks volumes to people who actually understand the game of football. If the play has broken down....throw it away. Live to play another down. Instead we got a guy that can't excute a very basic read....and makes a panick play a high school QB knows better not to do.

There...is your basic football 101 lesson for today....Hope you feel better.

I don't hate Dak. I also am not convinced he is the future, yet. I don't pile on him in the endless threads about him so I'm not one of the members you're referring to.

I do read all the threads. My take is that the "hate" is magnified by the admirers of Dak who seem to take any negative comment personally and react with a furious defense usually including a personal attack, however subtle (or not) it may be. At that point the gloves come off and is hate vs love to the death.
Exhibit B

When Romo came along he was like a breath of fresh air for this franchise. All those stupid attempts to make a baseball pitcher a QB was so frustrating and everyone could see it wasnt going to work. Romo comes along and Parcells nailed it when he said dont get out the annointing oil! Nobody believed it including myself and I instantly became a Romo fan. Well these crazy mistakes he would make were just mistakes at first but over the years I was beginning to wonder. Even my father would chuckle and laugh as I would watch the Cowboy games screaming and cheering and in the end quiet with my head down. I went to the win and your in game against the Commanders who had RG3 and Morris and Romo got the ball back with 2 min left and I though he had a chance to win the game and boom another INT right in front of me. I was on the sidelines and had enough of his crap! I put that jersey in the closet and then gave it to goodwill. I knew right then Romo was freaking jinxed! Great guy but sorry buddy Im sick and tired of being disappointed. I dont hate him but sick and tired of his mistakes at crucial moments.

So from 2012 Ive been waiting for Dallas to go out and draft a 6-5 arm Philip Rivers type QB. Here comes Dak and I was like wow there is something about this kid I like. He was an underdog and he seemed calm under pressure and was very effective and I didnt have to worry about him getting hurt. But watching him there was something I couldnt put my finger on. People kept comparing him and Wentz and I would watch Wentz and was very impressed. Of course he was making all these WOW throws but his WRs were dropping them. Then I realized Dak isnt making any wow throws! He is throwing everything short! Then when I saw the Vikings and Giants shut him down at the end of 2016 I said wait a minute. He threw a couple deep balls that he had to take 3 steps to throw and put so much air under to get them deep I realized his arm strength is questionable. But the telling tale was when his mechanics were off and he was throwing short balls that were landing 15 feet in front of the WR who was running a simple 5 - 7 yard out. In 40 years of watching football I have seen tons of QBs arm a ball like those and they lose accuracy but never does the ball land 15 feet short.
These were all question marks for me going into 2017.
I dont need to go into 2017 but yes he was figured out and he is going to struggle because of his inabilty to throw the ball into tight windows with velocity. The reason I say with velocity is because once the ball is in the air the CB is going to try and break on the ball if the window is tight and if Dak floats the ball just a little bit it will get picked off. He stays away from throws like that and against better teams in the playoffs you will have to make some throws like that to win! Sure he is gonna beat up on weaker teams but struggle against good teams. Thats why I am not sold on Dak and why It may sound like I disrespect what he has done.

In his first 2 years?????

Cute statement but completely wrong.

Over the course of his career, yes sure.

Multiply the bull crap hate Dak has received over the course of his first 2 years out
When is the last time you saw one of WR's have to drag his feet to catch a ball and stay in-bounds? Every other game I watch it happens a few times a game and it almost never occurs for us. Dak needs to be able to attack the sidelines 10-20 yards downfield. If he has added that to his game this off season then all of these complaints will disappear. If he hasn't then I personally would hesitate giving a guy who can't make all of throws franchise money.

and P.S. Romo had some of the best stats in this history of the game and over and over it was said that it didn't tell the whole story. So it's hard to argue that Dak is getting unfair treatment around here.

and it would completely eclipse anything Tony dealt with.

Funny thing is... Our helter skelter fan base didn't give Dak much grief in his 1st year. They couldn't. His improbable performance in his 1st year kept them at bay.

That second year though..... The gates of hell opened.

Sad

PS... Romo replaced the unpopular Drew Bleedslow and everyone wanted that to happen when it did... I distinctively recall an extended honeymoon phase with Romo.

This is fun.
An inconvenient truth

I guarantee that if dak wins a SB these are the excuses that will be lined up:

-because running game
-because oline
-because top 5 defense
-because coaching(desperation move)
Excuses?
If we win a super bowl?
You just listed the reasons why

I have been a fan for a really really REALLY long time. I have seen some of the best and worse come and go.

I have also been on many forums going as far back as the old ESPN forums of the late 90's early 2000's.

I have never, and I mean never witnessed the trashing of any terrible players I can remember years back the way Dak has received as of late.

And we are talking about not only a guy who had a great 1st season but a guy that TECHNICALLY still had a second winning season(9 wins) despite zekes suspension, bad coaching and getting killed because of oline injuries.

I believe most made Romo the exception and fans turned the other cheek on romos flaws for so many years, and the man is damn near a home town hero without having contributed to a single piece of hardware.

We now dak can throw the ball, we seen amazing accuracy and down field passing in 16. We know he can win without a star wideout, he did it without an injured Dez. And we know he can hold his own without an oline and decent RB, he scrapped together 9 wins last year, cassell and weeden would have never even made it close to 9 in the same situation.

The guy took an *** whipping last year and the coaches refused to help him or make adjustments and a lot of you leaned on the "exposed" instead of seeing the real problem or the WHOLE picture.

This fan base is turning weird. It seems more like a lot of fans are looking forward to failure just to have an I told you moment then actually being excited about football.

I believe Dak will have his fair share of 3-4 td passing with a couple rushing td games, and will still have those fans waiting up till the 2min warning of the 4th QTR, for dak to throw that INT just to get their fix.

So I want to know right now. What makes Dak(who has 2 winning seasons under his belt, no matter how you want to spin that 2nd season) any different from the other slew of crappy *** players who have received nothing but slaps in the wrist from fans over the years?

I can go back to the end of the aikman era for a proper begining and don't remember one player that got this kind of treatment.

I for one won't accept the Dak got exposed excuse any longer. And the he isn't Romo excuse is damn near laughable because we all know how that goes.
I am hopeful he addressed the flaws in his game. After all, we hired we hired a failed QB to coach him. Perfect plan. What could go wrong?

Only way Dak wins a Superbowl is if our Defense turns into the Ravens 2000 or Bears 1985 defenses.
And I'll ask again where would our Dak be in the NFL without Zeke and our giving him 10 sec to throw offline?

Hmmmmmm either on some Bench somewhere in the NFL or in the CFL....

He would be on a boat fishing. . . With some ol miss alumni

Look at it this way,...

If Romo hadda stayed healthy, he might’ve enjoyed the fruits of having Zeke at RB behind our O-line and maybe woulda won multiple SBs, while Dak likely never woulda seen the field playing behind a healthy Romo and might’ve been traded or cut before we ever saw him play.

Therefore, if Dak Prescott isn’t good enough at QB, the blame should fall directly on Tony Romo for being injury-prone.

At least that’s the way I see it.

This coach has a pet cat and his name is Mike White, just saying

You have the nerve to be condescending about anyone’s football knowledge after your idiotic opinions about Kellen Moore????

:lmao2:

That was, seriously, the single stupidest evaluation of a player’s talent the internet has ever seen. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You’re funny, but don’t be silly. He didn’t panic. He over threw Zeke. The second went off Dez’s hands.

Pay attention.

I’m waiting for your explanation of what Dak did or didn’t do that caused us to lose to Green Bay in the playoffs.

I remember a team that didn’t seem fully ready to play. Maybe rusty. I also remember a fake substitution penalty that changed the entire momentum of the game. And the score.

So help me see what you’re seeing. I have an open mind.

Not Daks fault but
OMG did you have to bring that game up! I wanted to bang Garretts head into a bench after that opening drive when Zeke was gashing them and Dak goes into pass mode once they cross mid field. That was the kiss of death because the Cowboys offense went stale and had to settle for field goals. I said before that game that the only way Dallas was going to win that game is pound zeke down their throats because it would keep Rodgers on the bench. And the best way to lose that game was to lure Dak into a shootout with Rodgers!

I see your still working on breaking down plays. Keep at it it'll come

They figured him out? Evidently some teams figured him out better than others. Currently he is 22-10 in his starts I think that is a fairly good start for any young QB. I don't see any reason why his game will not improve.

You really can't count his first season in the stats as he was a totally unknown quantity. Last year, teams figured out how to beat him with
blocking his safety valve in Beasley and Dez falling on his arse. More teams will now have studied how to take away his game and he will
be classified as another RG3 clone.
