I think the general consensus around here is right and was stated in one of the first replies. JJ is a good running back, he is strong for a small guy and sometimes it looks like he's torpedo, other times... not so much. However every RB we have will be measured against 22. Jones isn't Emmitt Smith, but he's doing a fine job and Marion Barber III has helped carry some of the load (6 TDs this year). Really nothing to complain about. If you're going to complain, complain about the penalties we gave up.

Well you are right there, but man stop trying to prove your point. It is wrong, there is factual evidence.

Because he didn't get his first carry until late in the 3rd quarter or early in the 4th quarter. He was playing on fresh legs and the Panthers defense was completely worn down. That's how football works.

Barber gets some credit because he DOES work hard but the above points are :hammer:

the only negative thing I took from this game was penalties (too many once again) and I noticed Roy Williams had 0 tackles!?

did you notice that Carolina couldn't run the football, and Roy had 1 pick?

He is a good running back ..... he is not Emmitt Smith.

We are a spoiled fan base.

we are spoiled at QB, RB, WR, and LB that explains alot :)

true, don't get me wrong i'm not a roy-hater, but 0 tackles? 0 tackles and roy williams just don't seem to go together. anyway yeah he did have that INT so i really can't complain.

How many times did running backs break through to the secondary?

I'm not doubting you or blaming Roy, I was just more or less surprised to see that stat. Anyway the main thing that bothered me and that has bothered me all season is when the broadcast displays the Cowboy's penalties/yards lost and the opponents'.

im not complaining, i just wish he was more consistent, but im happy with him, but i know he can do so much better, i think in a couple of years JJ is gonna be a top running back in the league. and you are right, i am spoiled, but can you really blame me? i mean my whole life as a cowboys fan we had number 22, but i have faith that JJ will keep getting better and better...

now to change the subject, what the heck is up with all our penalties??? its so weird youd think with a coach like bp we wouldnt have that many!!

When the O-Line didn't block Emmitt was no where to be found like all running backs without blocking!

when are we talking? in his prime he would have spun off three would-be tacklers, sat and read a book cover to cover gotten up stiff armed the guy and then ran 30 more yards for the td, past his prime he would have been s o l.

When your safeties have alot of tackles, it basically means your defense isn't doing their job because the front 7 isn't making the play. This is basic football stuff. JJ had a good game. If you want something to critique, go back to the Giants game.

yeah honestly i think that's what we should be concerned about, but one last thought on Jones... I doubt Jones will get much better than he already is, once you hit a certain age you don't keep getting faster, but you have to work harder to maintain your speed/strength or to prevent a drop... However he is good enough to be a feature back and having MB to carry some of the load is great.

Find me the last game when he had 0 tackles. How many times do I have to say I was just surprised to see 0. If you've seen him play RW usually gets involved in plays one way or another, again no critique on him, it was as I've stated already just odd to see 0 tackles. End of story.

i respectfully disagree, tiki barber was a bit older than JJ is right now when he REALLY started to improve into what he is today, granted his fumble problems might have had a lot to do with that

Tiki became a smarter player, I was just talking about the physical aspect, but yeah you're right.

I wasn't necessarily talking to you specifically, but addressing the thread in general. Honestly, I don't care how many tackles he had. He had a crucial interception. The fact our defense stopped the run well enough for Roy to have zero tackles is impressive IMO.
