BLT;1442556 said:maybe this is crazy but its just something i thought up. Every 1 is saying we can go best player available since we dont have any major holes so what if Adam Carriker is available at 22? i really like spears and canty and think they have the potential to becomes very good defensive ends for us but its no lie that they havent been living up to their potential. So what if Carriker is there at 22? do we entertain the thought of picking him and letting him challenge for a starting spot? Carriker has the ideal size for a 3-4 DE and is the only defensive end id even think of taking. This being said i still hope we go WR and CB in the 1st 2 rounds but this is just something to discuss...
btw Carriker is 6'6 and a shade under 300
I've actually thought about this, being a Nebraska fan.
IMO Carriker will be really good. He's a step above some of the other ends they've had like Chris Kelsey and guys like that. He's not just a blown-up 260 pounder, but a legitimate 290+ guy, and he stood out as by far the best player on that defense, and you could see every line having trouble with him. Great motor, too -- I'd think he might remind Wade of Castillo.
So I'm sure Wade would love to have him. If he's still around at 22 -- depending on who else is there, of course -- I'd think he'd have to be close to the best player on the board. But like the others have said, I just don't see who we'd push out to take him. Maybe if someone offered us a great pick for Spears or something... But I don't see that happening with him carrying a bit of an underachiever tag.
