Something no one mentioned about Dak last week

I didn’t read much about this last week, but it was good to see Dak involved in the running game again! That first TD and that great QB Sneak.

You have to go back to 2019 to find a game where Dak went well over what he did last week vs the Bears.

When Dak runs 5 or more times in a game in his entire career, the Boys are 20-5. It’s what made him great his rookie year. Not a total runner like Fields but just enough that you have to respect it. Heck.. we see how many problems our D has with running QBs this year. It helps! And I would argue Dak is a much better passer than Fields, Hurt, Jones and the scrambling QBs we’ve played.

I know the team doesn’t want another injury but I don’t think you can take that away from Dak’s game. I’m not saying it has to be every week, but enough so that D Coordinators have to warn their team constantly in practice and Kellen times it right when they least expect it so that it adds just one more threat in our defenders heads.

I agree with the OP. I personally was pleasantly surprised bc we haven’t seen that part of his game for awhile.

In todays game it seems.. if your QB doesn’t have mobility.. he better be a prolific passer. I mean like a technician.. some one to quickly read defenses and quickly get the ball out to the WR (I.e.-Brady). Unfortunately (and I’m not criticizing), that’s not Dak’s strong suit. He has to get back to adding the opportunistic runs and/or establishing the goal line runs like he did last weekend. In a round-a-bout way, It makes him a more effective passer. Although he runs with gravity boots, as Isaiah Stanback put it, his runs keep the defense guessing/honest. Much like how Jalen Hurts does and more recently Justin Fields. Of course they’re running abilities are more superior, but it doesn’t take much. The threat of running is enough.. but you have to be effective. So it was very nice to see Prescott prove he still can do it.

I have been saying this for a while. Dak should run designed runs a few times per game. At least one of them should be early in the game. (First two drives). He needs those running plays to open up the offense and keep the defense honest.

I agree.. not only does it put the thought of having to account for him in the head of the defense I firmly believe it helps to settle HIM down.. It kind of knocks the edge off the adrenaline that's coursing through him early in the game.

last year 1st season back after the broken ankle yeah coaches did not want him running. Dak is now 2 years removed from the injury and he and the team talked about him running more this year during pre season. No surprise here

Its been mentioned by me and others. But it deserves its own thread. Awesome....great to see him running again.

His one QB sneak was kinda flukes.

No idea how he gained like 20 yards on that 3rd and 1 lol

But it was good to see him run it in for that touchdown on the opening drive.

That was funny. Dak was all scrunched up trying to get a yard and found himself open field. I don't ever recall seeing anything like that.
