Sometimes it's as interesting what questions do *not* get asked in Garrett's pressers

It's the me-first fantasy football generation.

Emmitt was huge on his records and used to keep every TD ball. Dickerson is jealous of anyone who approaches his record. The guys from the 72 Dolphins used to get together and celebrate when the last undefeated team was defeated each season.

Fantasy football is hardly a millennial thing.

Quite frankly this notion that millennials are the first generation to be self absorbed and willful is some willful ignorance.

We can review some of the preferred slogans of Generation X and particularly the Boomers when they entered their majority to show the lie of the notion.

Exactly.

The mentality was always there; it's just become more magnified recently due to the ridiculous advances in social media technology.

Not one question just now about Zeke being pulled out of so much of the game, or needless to say, about Zeke's opportunity to overtake Dickerson. In fact, barely any mention of Zeke at all.
It was asked during the postgame media session.

That's because the Dallas media are neutered.

That would have been my first question to the coward. With a follow up of whether Emmitt Smith would have had the career he had playing for a wuss head coach worried about his safety.

Sounds like the sign of a game decision that was properly handled.

I remain perplexed at the number of fans who care more about individual records and players than winning this championship that is staring at us directly in our face.
Its the new fandom. Fans of the players, not the team

I would have loved to see Zeke get the record i am disappointed they didn't let him go for it ! Averaging 128 yards over the last 2 games was not out of reach at all he would have easily had over 120 vs the lions if they played him some more which would have left a reasonable 100 yard game needed vs the eagles. He only gets one shot at that particular record and they should have let him go for it, it would have been looked at as a great accomplishment by the whole offense. Our line would have been proud to do that for Zeke especially after the appreciation zeke showed to them.

Give me a break with the selfish crap and its a generation thing, that record takes a team effort to accomplish and they let it go. These boys come to play and it would not have effected anything going into the playoffs in fact i would argue that may have made them play harder and brought them even closer as a team. This team is not about or hasn't displayed anything to make anyone say its a me me me first team, that would have been a special moment had he broken it. They have played all year together as a team so why bother keeping stats at all about anything other then the score if thats the case. Do you not appreciate the fact the alltime rushing leader/record is held by a Cowboy ! This record would have been nice to have right next to that one.

It has nothing to do with being selfish and no i am not a millennial for the record i am Generation X

MY OPINION

Once we clinched the #1 seed I figured Zeke would see his carries limited. People always complain about not wearing Zeke out. We need him for the playoffs.

Does Zeke look wore out to anyone on this board he doesn't to me ( yes he could get injured but he could also get injured on the car ride home )? Of course we need him for the playoffs i agree with you. BUT why do most in this thread/or board act like, if this team does go for this record with Zeke it is the end of our superbowl run. Does anyone really think that will make a difference seriously ? So if we don't win the superbowl now should Zeke have gone for it what will be the excuse? Are we guaranteed a superbowl win now because Zeke didn't get 20 more carries or get the record?

Why can't we have our Cake and Eat it too - get the record and a superbowl

Special Opportunities in Life are tough to come by, you need to take advantage of them when they arise. Personal accomplishments and Achievements are a great thing and should not be discouraged. I would venture to say most if not all on this board have goals set in there lives. I am sure we all have personal, financial, & family goals i see nothing wrong with the cowboys going for that record, in fact the more i talk about this now i am pissed they didn't go for it, since Zeke will not get another chance for it and IMO he could have had it if they wanted it.

I don't see how winning the SB and getting the record are mutually exclusive. If it were beyond reach a few games ago, fine, don't risk it. I don't think Zeke hit a rookie wall to where you need to worry about fresh legs.

Getting this close and not making it a little easier for him doesn't make sense to me. Especially because it's an individual record, but it's implicitly recognition of our dominant o-line as well.

That said, this should give him even more motivation to win it all. The SB would be a great solace for not getting the record. If you don't win, you came up short in a lot of ways your rookie season.
